"My country is in ruins" - Iraqi doctor at "Bring 'Em Home" concert
Edited on Mon Mar-20-06 11:28 PM by im10ashus
Susan Sarandon invited an Iraqi doctor to the "Bring 'Em Home Now!" concert and she spoke through an interpreter. My friend is a makeup artist for M.A.C. and was doing the makeup for a couple of the bands. He called me during her speech while he was standing off stage. She spoke of the fear they live in constantly and that there is NO democracy being formed in Iraq. That the children were afraid to go outside. That they take the men away in hoods all the time to be interrogated. That there are only songs of sorrow. Her country is in ruins.

My friend called me back later and told me Cindy Sheehan told the audience when she spoke that before the concert she was interviewed by a reporter from Faux News and he asked her (I loosely quote): "Why doesn't Casey have a tombstone." She said "Casey lives in here" (pointing to her heart). She asked him "What about the people at the bottom of the Twin Towers without tombstones? The people in Iraq and Afghanistan without tombstones?"

I am SO kicking myself for not going tonight.
