David Gregory smacks down Laura Ingraham on Today
Gregory was co-hosting with Katie while Matt was off. He moderated a discussion of the Iraq War between Ingraham and James Carville. Ingraham is so impressed with herself for going to Iraq a few weeks ago and broadcasting "Happy News" reports on her radio show. She started ranting that the Today Show never went to Iraq and Matt Lauer never went to Iraq instead of "Where In The World Is Matt Lauer". David Gregory cut her off and said that's not fair the Today Show has broadcasted from Iraq. She kept repeating that the Today Show never talked to the Iraqi people or to the soldiers in Iraq, but she did. Gregory wasn't having it. He smacked her down. Thankfully, Katie wasn't doing that interview.

Then Carville had his turn and said that the American people know things are bad and aren't buying the Bush PR. Ingraham started talking over him and Carville said "Excuse me Laura for talking while you were interrupting me!" It was great. She shut up and looked pathetic. I hope somebody has this video.

5. She also complained that NBC covered the Olympics
but never went to Iraq to talk to the people of Iraq. That's completely false. And Gregory called her on it.

3. It was beautiful.
I was hoping someone would post about it. You explained it well, but people have to see it to actually believe the nerve of Laura patting herself on the back and blaming the media for how Americans view Iraq.

4. Lucious Laura Strikes Again...
Yeah, she's now an expert on Iraq cause she spent three days at military bases in Kuwait and spent a whole day inside Iraq and the Green Zone. Wow!!!! Musta been rough having to deal with all the adveristy when your telephone line tangled with the other right wing yak monkey sitting next to you. Of course there was tons of happy news...the DOD made sure of it. The closest that poor excuse for human cells came close to "reality" in Iraq was when she flew over the shells of bombed out libraries.

Chuck Hagel gave us a great hammer on slimeball war enablers like Ingraham. Simple...wasn't the "mission accomplished" here getting rid of Saddam and installing a new government? If so, then WTF are we still doing there? Didn't we already win? Shouldn't we call it a victory and get the hell out? Of course, Ingraham is too kool-aided to examine the hypocrisy in what she was told and stovepiped in 2003 and the horseshit she shovels today.

6. if she is so gung ho, why doesn't she join and drive a truck
of supplies that are constantly getting attacked

The other thing you hear is we are not in a civil war it is the MSM media who is propagating that myth. Just as these so-called patriots were eager to embrace the imagined threat from hussein, and WMDs, let us see what they say in the course of time about a civil war

As usual the people are much further ahead then these commentators, or their representatives

14. One Work Sums It Up: Chickenshits
I read about this press caravan the DOD put together recently...a dozen hate radio hosts were sent on our dime to a couple military bases to do their radio shows. This is like a U.S.O. tour...everything is carefully scripted from wheels up in the U.S. to the moment they return. Not a moment isn't covered and not spin wasn't spun. It's like going on a cruise of the Carribbean and coming back and saying you're an expert on the region.

We have a loud minority of "ostriches" in this country now. Their head is in the sand to the reality and scream to us that our view is "clouded".

The game these people play are the need and want game. They need to waive the flag and play "patriot" to be "wanted" by their listeners. Without the jingoism, they don't have a show...they have to face issues that are tearing their base apart and this is not what this regime and its enablers want on hate radio and their media right now.

They're becoming even more aggressive and shrill because Bush is going down in flames on the war.

9. My self-imposed moratorium on bashing Ingraham is over.
I laid off the little geek because she was battling breast cancer, but she just kept on spewing her crap, and I 'can't stands no more'!

What baffles me about her is the same thing that baffles me about some other right wing bobbleheads. Some have had pretty decent careers in the past, but now they're babbling on AM talk radio. Looks like a downward slide to me.

17. too bad david gregory became defensive when ingraham was telling him
that lauer has not been to iraq. defensiveness when face with truth is a tried old bush strategery.
gregory should have said, thank you for pointing it out, i'll mention it to matt--it might interest him enough to high tail it there and talk to the people there--but of course, then again, he might not be interested in talking only to those selected by the bush administration for a pr interview.

18. Did you see the (R) woman on Bill Maher's show Friday?
A republican congresswoman went on a junket to Iraq and was allowed to talk directly to the troops, and every one of them was excited and energized about their mission, and loved Bush and thought America wasn't seeing all the wonderful blah blah blah blah blah...

This woman gets escorted in by our troops, has interviews arranged with soldiers who are briefed to say only good things, gets driven around some of the relatively safe areas where things didn't happen to be blowing up that day, and then comes home thinking she's seen what is going on in Iraq, and everyone else is just stoopid. I wish Belzer hadn't apologized for his f-word...she deserved something much stronger.

19. It was really funny. I especially enjoyed it when Carville said,
"Of course, it's NBC's fault that we're in Iraq, and NBC's the people that told us there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq."

He was being sarcastic. Sadly, it's kinda true, though. But the obvious implication that she needed to blame Bush for putting us there, not the media for complaining about it, was great.

Sounds good. She didn't give a shit about Carnahan & Wellstone dying in plane crashes. Actually sort of chuckled about "our good luck" So...Laura baby, this one's for you: "Hope it comes back"
