24. Here Ya Go
http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/03/21/bush.transcript/index.html

. . .

I also saw a threat in Iraq. I was hoping to solve this problem diplomatically. That's why I went to the Security Council. That's why it was important to pass 1441, which was unanimously passed.

And the world said, "Disarm, disclose or face serious consequences." And therefore, we worked with the world. We worked to make sure that Saddam Hussein heard the message of the world.

And when he chose to deny the inspectors, when he chose not to disclose, then I had the difficult decision to make to remove him.
And we did. And the world is safer for it.

. . .

6. But by attacking another country that had nothing to do w/ 9/11
we have to stay in that country because it will become a "base" to attack the
U.S. from even though it's people have been attacked and killed by people
from the U.S. military ..... so that country's non existent army will now take control
of that country.

11. He keeps forgetting the script
He's working off of the one from July 2002. The Downing Street Memos revealed that the plan was to try and get inspectors in and when Saddam refused then that would justify war. Sadamm figured this out and allowed the inspectors in. Determined to have war they invaded anyway. This is not the first time he slipped up and went back to this script but I can't believe he is still doing it.

No one has ever called him on it yet.

Inspectors went in and wanted to stay in. The rest of the world and the UN wanted them to stay in. The US and the alleged "coalition" made them leave in order to attack. Now he says that the reason we attacked is because he wouldn't allow inspectors in? They'll just let him get away with it again.

<sigh>

16. Helen Thomas asked him the real reason for going to war in Iraq.
He became unhinged and she kept interrupting him. In his own deluded way he also called Paul O'Neill and Richard Clarke (not by name) liars for saying war with Iraq was on his mind from the onset of his "presidency".

23. I totally agree. His cognitive functions are, shall we say, LACKING!
He can barely string a sentence together.

I don't go for the notion that he's really a bright guy who just fools us. That was very true of Eisenhower. Not Bush.

I heard him after Thomas asked why he went to Iraq, it was all cliches he's used at every news conference. Perseverating on nick names, pretending to be charming, babbling on.

He could not complete a sentence, carry one thought forward, or answer one question...

but what you pointed out is just perfect. Thank God for enlarged text;)

in the Hitler/Stalin/Pinochet/Ferdinand Marcos mold.

Many free people have made this mistake when coming upon a psychopathic tyrant with no shame, no conscience. That they must be insane.

But Emperor Chimperor sets the standard for the sanity of Tyrants, as does his Soulmate Putin.

42. He's talking to his base, LynnTheDem
Not to you/us.

He never has, it's a classic sign of extremism/secterianism; you relate only to your own people. They believe anything he says and have no sense of history/time, and don't put much weight on what happened yesterday. It's not so much a presentation of facts as it is a preachers sermon; things are almost true, he talks in 'examples', pictures and proverbial stories.
This is why we're so moonstruck by this movement; because they never actually speak from the world we're in, but from the future Xtian USA.
God said Saddam didn't allow the UN inspectors in, so who can argue with that? It's the 'truth'.

It fits the picture they want to present to the base, and it fits the picture of what the base wants to believe.
We're only bystanders, spectators, to the game of 'feel good'-propaganda designed to stroke them with the hairs.
