Pat Robertson has lost it. Completely.
Pat Robertson is going senile.
Or he's simply a prophet-for-profit pandering to his groupies.

Pat Robertson on College Professors: "you know some of them are killers!"

Pat Robertson had another one of his moments today on the 700 Club, while interviewing David Horowitz. I didn't realize the amount of terror these termites are causing...

Hat tip to the PFAW for the transcript and the video.

ROBERTSON: Ladies and gentleman this is a fascinating book. If you want to, you'd better take your blood pressure medicine before you read it, but it's "The Professors: The 101 most dangerous academics in America" and that's just a short list of the 30-40,000 of them, they're like termites that have worked into the woodwork of our academic society and it's appalling. This is available at CBN.com and book stores everywhere, and you really ought to read it and be informed.

TERRI: It’s interesting that so many conservatives haven't seen this because decades ago we were told that infiltrating education was the way to take over the country, we should have been on alert.

ROBERTSON: They gamed it, these guys are out and out communists, they are radicals, you know some of them killers, and they are propagandists of the first order and they don't want anybody else except them. That's why Regent University for example is so terrifically important and why we're setting up an undergraduate program that hopefully will see shortly 10,000 students, and then from there 250,000 because you don't want your child to be brainwashed by these radicals, you just don't want it to happen. Not only brainwashed but beat up, they beat these people up, cower them into submission. Ahhh! "The Professors", read it.

They beat them up!

19. Exactly--if we on the Left dismiss as a crazy mofo, we miss the point
entirely.

He knows precisely what he's doing.

Big difference between being a crazy mofo and acting like one.

21. Before Reagan dismantled 50 years of responsible media
regulation, Robertson would have long since been blackballed and any broadcaster airing him would have been subject to fines- or worse.

5. By beating people up they mean
He's right. I generally take my students and line them up against the wall and shoot them in the kneecaps if they don't accept the fact that Billy Budd has homoerotic themes. They get the message real quick.

Of course, he's correct. Anything is correct in America these days. It's like a great big work of fiction; only problem is that it's terribly written.

10. Wow! I'll use your method to get kids to do their homework! (Any homework)
Horowitz needs to be stopped before his very presence freezes political speech on college campuses. Robertson just needs Haldol, and maybe the voices will stop talking to him.

8. You are absolutely right. I just finished reading
the article, and now there is no doubt. Pat "fatwa" Robberson has lost his mind. It's very amusing, though, that he's still allowed to be the president of his religious corporation, or whatever he is.

Last year, he said the U.S. should assassinate Hugo Chavez. When the furor went sky-high, he retracted and said we should "take him out".

I believe the man suffers from irreconcilable guilt. Guilt about being a mafia man and a thief, and at the same time being the head of a religious organization. He could never reconcile the two, so he became crazy.

12. snake oil salesman ....needing more enrollment....
Here's one of my favorite snips on Pat...

It’s scary to hear someone carry-on like Pat. But it’s sort of strange to realize that Pat and Wolf Blitzer go way back together. Yep! Wolf used to work for Pat Robertson's CBN way back when Pat was setting up his news bureau and Wolf was the 700 Club’s reporter from the Middle East. He was a lot younger in those days, but in those beginning days Pat exposed Wolf Blitzer to a viewing audience that topped the Nielsen ratings at 28.7 million monthly viewers! That’s a great way to launch one’s career. But Wolf Blitzer likes to keep that part of his career kind of quiet. He doesn’t list the 700 Club’s news bureau in his biography. He doesn’t tell CNN’s audience that Pat was like an angel to him when he was just an independent reporter starting out. But those of us who watched Pat’s show could never forget Wolf Blitzer’s reports. He was presented to us as such an expert—we were just so proud of him! And look how high he’s gone. You’d think he’d give Pat a little credit. No doubt he says “Thanks” by inviting him on CNN!
After all, Pat started a J-School (Journalism School) and Bob Slosser, who had worked for the New York Times became the President of CBN University and Bob Slosser shared Pat’s vision of a new America. Slosser was at the graduation of the first graduate from the Institute of Journalism, it was a young lady named Eliza Wright. And the Governor of Missouri, a fellow named John Ashcroft gave the graduation speech on May 20, 1985! (My how these folks go way back together—and it shows what loyalty can do!) Bob Slosser told the 700 Club audience that day:
“We’re going to change the way the country thinks, we’ve bought into this secularism thing and that’s taken us right down the wrong path. I believe that this institution and those like this…will change the way this country thinks!”

13. I'm not being facetious....
I think the man has been showing signs of impaired thinking for 2-3 years. Trust me, I could never stand the dude. Just hearing his whiny-assed voice would send my blood pressure skyrocketing.

However, I think it's cruel to make fun of people suffering from dementia, no matter how cruel that person may have been to others. Think about it, we'll all suffer from it someday if we live long enough. I certainly wouldn't want anyone taking my incoherent ranting and raving at that point seriously.

Someone in his family or inner circle of advisors really should remove him from public view.

I know, his shoes will be hard to fill over at UseGays2Fundraise, but Falwell has shown himself capable of holding down the fort until another megalomaniac steps onto the national stage.

plenty of undergraduates cowered, were beat up, abased, abused, they were dangerous indeed. I wish they would have wrote that book before I went to school, a fat lot of good it does me now.

Great marketing idea Pat, come enroll at my FOR PROFIT College, the 101 hardest Professors in the Country all teach elsewhere! See, here is the written proof!

29. As a reasonably educated individual, Robertson should know
that the verb "cower" can't be used in a sentence like that. Now if he had said "cow them into submission" that would have been a different story. What an idiot.

33. Lewis Powell 1971
http://reclaimdemocracy.org/corporate_accountability/powell_memo_lewis.html

DATE: August 23, 1971
TO: Mr. Eugene B. Sydnor, Jr., Chairman, Education Committee, U.S. Chamber of Commerce
FROM: Lewis F. Powell, Jr.
This memorandum is submitted at your request as a basis for the discussion on August 24 with Mr. Booth (executive vice president) and others at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The purpose is to identify the problem, and suggest possible avenues of action for further consideration.

Sources of the Attack
The sources are varied and diffused. They include, not unexpectedly, the Communists, New Leftists and other revolutionaries who would destroy the entire system, both political and economic. These extremists of the left are far more numerous, better financed, and increasingly are more welcomed and encouraged by other elements of society, than ever before in our history. But they remain a small minority, and are not yet the principal cause for concern.

The most disquieting voices joining the chorus of criticism come from perfectly respectable elements of society: from the college campus, the pulpit, the media, the intellectual and literary journals, the arts and sciences, and from politicians. In most of these groups the movement against the system is participated in only by minorities. Yet, these often are the most articulate, the most vocal, the most prolific in their writing and speaking.
