1. I agree.
Have you posted on the NBC board? Couldn't hurt to let them know how we feel about it, could it?

2. Good idea - will do! I called my parents who planned on watching and
warned them of the somewhat slow start but told them to stick it out - it really is EXCELLENT and very 6 feet underish. :)

I like "Ghost Whisperer" too. I forgot about that show since it wasn't on tonight. Jennifer Love Hewitt does that show very well too.

7. It was good, but a little over the top...
the martini drinking wife cliche was played up by 2 of the characters.

I'm puzzled by the way they handled the gay son subplot, and the litany of stereotypes was funny the first time, but they just kept milking it.

Excessive pill-popping as well...we get it!

Bedroom farce?! w/ boyfriend falling off the awning while sneaking out the window.

In all, though I liked the dialogue and the idea of flawed & complex characters. They could have a great show without all the gimmicks.

No, really. Waaay too much time spent here.

Good show, to get back to the point. A bit over the top for me, but I've learned to expect that from first episodes.

to the one son being 'adopted.'

My daughter is my daughter, not my 'adopted' daughter. What's up with that?

Other than that, it's cool.

- first episode and when the race difference was brought up, the family made it clear he was one of their own.

26. Yeah, I guess you're right ..
it's just that's not how the families who've adopted (that I know, including myself) behave.

Oh, well, it's television.

On this other show I watch there is an adopted black boy in the family but they didn't refer to him a lot like that with being adopted.

35. Maybe some of the other kids were adopted, too.
The gay son was biological because they were looking back in their gene pool for other gay relatives.

The daughter could have been adopted and the other son, the one who had died of leukemia could also have been adopted.

I thought it was funny when the father told the son "you have my smile." and the son replied "I always thought I had your eyes." His birth parents were Chinese for those who didn't see it.

I have a younger adopted cousin who is Native American. I used to tell her she looks more like me than I do.

38. It's funny ...
my daughter looks just like my hubby; it's kind of suspicious. She acts just like me; the gestures are the same, the speech.

That's how it works.

Yeah, and at one point later on, the mom says, "He IS our own."

show on PBS with a chubby, woman pastor who does outrageous schemes; and, on BBC America, a Father with a dolt of a parish partner on a windy island, humoring an old drunk of a priest...and somehow the nation survives! The latter character is Irish, and there is a real sendup of the whole church hierarchy as the guy caters to the higher ups and eventually wins the "Golden Cleric" award....
