The more I see of what they're doing, the more I think they're hiding something really ugly that motivates everything they do. There's a plan. There's action to support the plan. And there's coordinated effort to keep the whole thing under wraps.

I know all the public stuff - oil, global power, $$$ for cronies and corporate pals...

But I still end up with the feeling that something is going on that we don't know about that's driving them to do every evil deed. And I feel just as certain that whatever is motivating them wouldn't make us too happy.

They know something we don't, and they're acting on it.

When is the other shoe going to fall - and what will it be?

That makes much more sense.

Overriding the constitution. We have a government that has done so many illegal things that it's impossible to comprehend them all.

Unfair elections - check.

Privitizing everything - check.

Destroying our first and fourth amendment rights - check.

Prison torture - check.

Overriding every single treaty known to man - check.

Illegal warfare - check.

Supreme Court, Congress, and the media stacked in their favor - check.

Religious fanatacism - checkity check check.

Their ultimate goal is to replace the constitution with the Bible. I think I have figured it out.

I think it's been obvious to everyone for a long time.

They've been defined by arrogance, greed, a lust for power, and incompetence. These are not subtle traits.

I have no doubt that they've broken the law and stolen from the country in countless ways that we don't know about, but I don't see anything that makes me think there's any great plan beyond serving corporate America and consolidating power in their one-party theft machine.

I thank our hosts for the opportunity to participate in our fourth meeting here in Berlin at this fine venue. It is a pleasure to be with you all today and to see many friends and colleagues in the audience. I will present an overview of the rise of the "National Security State" that the United States have become. This phenomenon includes the "garrison state" at home and global imperialism abroad, both controlled by an all-powerful imperial Presidency.

The project for the imperial Presidency, garrison state, and imperial foreign policy, was advanced after World War II by Presidents Harry Truman, Lyndon Johnson, and Richard Nixon. For five decades, the project has relied on the manipulation of fear, and the creation of "emergency" conditions, through the systematic deception of the United States public and Congress about the international situation and foreign threats.

Today, according to current official United States government policy statements such as the just-released 2006 Quadrennial Defense Review, the former "Soviet Threat" and "Red China Threat" have been replaced now by the "Islamic Threat" and the "New China Threat." The war against Iraq is ongoing, while preventive wars against Iran and Syria are discussed and military conflict with China is anticipated.

My presentation this afternoon will sketch out various stages in the rise of the U.S. National Security State. To properly grasp the current situation in the United States, for the purpose of foreign policy analysis, historical context is essential.
