4. You, liveoak,
are a gentleman and scholar :loveya:

I NEVER get to see the Daily Show here - never know what time it'll show up! And I don't take the local paper that has the listings ONLY on Sunday (half of which are wrong - it's a far-right rag that we call the News-Minus).

14. Don't forget that the daily show re-airs multiple times
It will be on at 2:00 and 8:00 pm eastern today. The Feingold one.

Yesterday he had on an Iraqi general who claimed secondhand knowledge that the WMDs were sent to Syria. :wtf:

15. Anybody notice the audience response?
The enthusiastic applause, the cheers, the whoops? The boos Boehner got? I don't think I've ever heard a Daily Show audience react so positively to a guest.

Which of course raises the question: What in the hell are the rest of the democrats doing? Can they not see that the people, the people they represent, support Feingold and want to see that son-of-a-bitch held accountable? It's not like Daily Show viewers are a bunch of raving leftist loons, they're Jane and Joe Average. If the man can get that kind of support on a comedy news program, congressional democrats had better take note.

18. Many of them fear they will lose votes if they cater to their base.
Republicans seem to disprove that notion, though.

19. What Democrats are against Feingold's censure? I see them as pleased that
having the censure in judiciary committee allows investigation to go through - and Kennedy, Leahy and Jeffords have all pushed for more NSA documents.

Methinks too many left blogs jumped the gun and played up the Feingold v the Democrats angle, setting up the GOP to demand a quick vote on censure which would end further debate and investigation of the NSA spying.

i guess the rest of them are still waiting to see which way the wind blows. Whatever.

23. Bad analysis PP - they're using NEED to investigate censure to obtain NSA
documents.

Harkin and Boxer coming out as co=sponsors was cool, but Durbin, Kerry, Kennedy, Leahy and others all leapt upon the investigation aspect which helped move it into committee.

And in committee for investigation is just where Feingold wanted it. Or were you siding with Cheney and Frist wanting a vote on censure right away knowing the numbers weren't there?

25. I'm glad they are happy
Even though the actual committee which should investigate this has already voted not to, and any investigation we now get will be an Arlen Specter special.

It wouldn't hurt anything to have 35 Democratic co-sponsors on this, would it? Or even a few Republicans?

Look, I'm happy that some kind of half-assed investigation will be done on this issue, too, and I'm very happy about the support that Durbin and Kerry especially have given to Feingold's proposal.

Look how desperate people are here for leadership - it is a dangerous place we are in, where if somebody even puts one foot forward to make some kind of symbolic stance against this mafia, that we all rush to them like thirsty people towards an oasis. Frankly, I'd be happy if the Democratic leadership began a race to see who could stand up to Bush the most and the loudest.

Just don't downplay the significance of what Feingold has done/is doing here. We need this now, and we need more of it.

26. That's why I applaud that Feingold's idea to censure FORCED the judiciary
committee to take up the investigation.

It's the left blogosphere pushing the idea that a quick vote was a good thing and pressuring senators to declare their position right away, not understanding that Feingold and other senators NEEDED censure slowed down in committee and it was GOPs who wanted Dems to declare their positions quickly to END debate and further investigation of NSA spying.

The sooner the left starts COMPREHENDING facts and resisting knee-jerk reactions the better able we can fight the bastards constructing the spin against us.

i think im'g getting hysterical by the realization that the Dems have been selling us down the river for a very long time. We need to not only support Feingold but DEMAND the rest of the so-called Dems start standing up to the thugs, NOW... their powder is so dry, it is blowing away.:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :

31. Why should Dems (DINOs all but Feingold in the Senate) stick their necks
out for us like Feingold, when the Feingold threads should be getting 300+ comments. Where is everybody??? The Alito and Patriot Act cowardice by ALL OF THE SENATE, save Feingold and Leahy and Jeffords and that was IT!!! and the Pelosi betrayal on the Internet is stunning and I think DUers are trying to recover from the unimpeachable evidence that we have NO real representation in the Senate and very little in the House. Where are the Dems in signing Congressman Conyers' impeachment bills??? Waxman, Barbara Lee and the wonderful and courageous Congresswoman McKinney and a few others should be getting acknowledgement for their stands on DU.

Where is the Feingold transcript of the Daily Show? I want it!!!

28. Too late to Recommend so I Kick if I can. I tried to download the vid
from Can O Fun, this morning, but my computer locked up after I tried to play it twice and couldn't figure out how to download it and I went offline. The only time that I have been able to download Can o Fun or Crooks and Liars is when it has been on DU, either the frontpage or in the comments.

Would love to have a video clip of Feingold but I waited for an hour to download his excellent opposition (read the transcript somewhere) to the "Patriot" Act but didn't work and wanted Sen. Kennedy's opposition to alito but after waiting for another hour for Crooks and Liars to download gave up. I don't need the whole thing but would like to have some vid clips as well as transcripts of Feingold's historic opposition to the new and more dangerous McCarthism.

29. Why is this chamber empty???? This is important AND HISTORIC. Why so few
comments for the unbelievably courageous Feingold? Is everyone packing to go to Canada already?? From Rigorous Intuition's sad commentary on Canada's new, Bohemian Grove, ultra-right-wing Prime Minister last month, I don't think that Canada is going to be much of a haven and those who do move, I hope you send back funds and other help the way that those who managed to escape far enough from Nazi Germany did for their friends, family and countrymen.
