VIDEO: Are American Marines Killing Unarmed Civilians? (BBC Newsnight)
The US military has announced an investigation into allegations by the Iraqi police that American soldiers shot dead 11 members of the same family last week.

The inquiry comes a day after Time magazine published allegations that US troops went on the rampage, killing 15 civilians, after a roadside bomb killed a Marine west of Baghdad in November.

This BBC Newsnight excerpt originally broadcast Tuesday, March 22 as the top story includes a panel discussion examining the evidence. (Windows Media broadband, 16 minutes.)

4. Aw, this is just more harping on bad news
Okay, maybe a bunch of unarmed civilians have been killed by our star-spangled men and women in uniform, but nobody ever talks about how the lines at the market are shorter or the class sizes in the schools have been reduced thanks to this!

13. Not sure Stranger, although hundreds have watched this clip in the last 24
hours according to the Blip server logs. About half came from Canofun, a very good video-oriented site, and the rest came from Blip and DU.

The British media certainly thought this was a blockbuster story, and so did Time Magazine in their international editions. People here on DU apparently feel otherwise, and that's unfortunate, because there's not a lot of incentive for folks to take the time and effort to edit and post video reports like these here if DUers won't vote for them.

Maybe DUers would rather complain about U.S. TV news than even barely support efforts to crack the electronic Iron Curtain.
