"...shredded his penis"?? Is that what NPR's All Thing's Considered
reporter in Iraq said about a soldier's wound? Maybe I heard that wrong. But it wouldn't surprise me. Very graphic report.

2. Then about a wounded soldier whose foot fell off in the hallway
during transport. He "expired" (word used by army doc. What is he? an old carton of milk?) and they had to go back and find his foot.

I'm a registered nurse and this is making me queasy.

5. it's not expire in that sense

ex·pire (ĭk-spīr')

v., -pired, -pir·ing, -pires.

v.intr.
To come to an end; terminate: My membership in the club has expired.
To breathe one's last breath; die: The patient expired early this morning.
To exhale; breathe out.

it's an euphemism for "to die" (last breath)

it's used in French in the same meanings than English

3. from what i understand, this is one of the most common injuries
due to the IEDs placement. Lower body injuries make up a large portion, i forget where i read it but i think it was from the AMA.

4. Talking about a suspected insurgent. Went on to say that it was
ironic that he was getting a high level of care after trying to kill Iraqi police.
