Bob Ney, R-Ohio, is likely to be indicted in public corruption scandal
Fellow Republican: Ney likely to be indicted
Gannett News Service

WASHINGTON -- Rep. Bob Ney, R-Ohio, is likely to be indicted in an ongoing public corruption scandal, according to a fellow Republican congressman, Jim McCrery of Louisiana.

Ney has been linked by prosecutors to Jack Abramoff, a former lobbyist who pleaded guilty to charges this week that include mail fraud, tax evasion and conspiracy to bribe public officials. He also is linked to Abramoff's associate, Michael Scanlon, who pleaded guilty in November to conspiring to bribe a member of Congress and other public officials.

"He'll probably be indicted," McCrery speculated Friday.

Ney's spokesman Brian Walsh said Ney maintains that he has done "absolutely nothing wrong" and that prosecutors have not told him that he is a target of the investigation.

4. Dang, I thought it would be CoinGate that got him.
This is good news, he has to fight 2 fronts.

Ney is also the chair of the committee holding ammendments to HAVA, that would improve it, for 3 years now.

5. Here's something that may shed a little light on Bob Ney,
Edited on Sat Jan-07-06 12:33 PM by doc03
he was my congressman before redistricting. I remember seeing an article in the paper a few years ago that listed the net worth of various Congressman, in this article Ney had a net worth of minus well over $100,000 mainly in credit card debt. What is his net worth today? I have heard he moved to a pretty nice house outside this District and his net worth has changed substantially and he listed the $30000 he "won" at a Casino in the UK as part of his good fortunes. What I'm wondering is, if maybe he had a gambling problem and that's how Abramoff got his meat hooks in him. Is he another Bill Bennett? Another thing I remember from his campaign against (Rob Burch I believe) was a listing of his large donors of $5000 or more every energy company you could think of was on that list. One $5000 donor was Outback Steakhouse, I guess that's alright, but just what the hell could a Congressman do for Outback Steak house.
