This is classic Freudian slippery. If he apologized, good. He gets half forgiven now and gets the other half when he makes a public show of being against racism. Racist slurs are wrong whether they attack a Republican or a Democrat. I have a big problem with it and any real liberal should too.

A look at the transcript seems to point toward it being an honest mistake, but I'm still suspicious of the guy. What kind of person could ever slip the word "coon" into a casual conversation. He was in the midst of making a big deal about Rice being black. That's still bullshit thinking. Rice's race less than secondary compared to her being a fuck up incompetant apologist for a dishonest oil-grab disguised as war. She's an embarrassment to the human race, but the fact that she's African American shouldn't mean shit to anybody.

I think maybe an unpaid suspension for this DJ might be more in order than a complete firing. But he still owes the world some serious karma-payment before he's out of the woods. What a shitty thing to say/think/slip out.

i dont care squat about this man, but doesnt sound like he was saying the word, what came out and then he said it more clearly in apologizing. i am thinking this wasnt a slip of the tongue as in accidently saying coon, i think it is a slip of tongue saying something that came out sounding kinda like coon

I heard it a few times the other day on the radio. It really sounded like he accidentally mashed two words together, and unfortunately coon came out.

I just don't see how someone praising someone one second would then refer to them as a racist slur the second.

edited to add: I hope that his career isn't ruined because of this unfortunate accident.

Before I heard the clip, I thought it was purposely but now after hearing how he caught the slip right after and apologized, I'll give him a pass.
