Chuck Hagel just said Wes Clark would be elected President in 2008!
:wow: I kid you not!

They are on a panel talking about Vietnam and the lessons learned from it (on The SPAN 1). Brian Williams is the moderator. Williams said (wrongly, IMCPO) that "Bush beat Gore, McCain and Kerry, ALL Vietnam vets. Do you think the American people have an aversion to electing Vietnam Vets?" Hagel said, "No, I don't. In fact one will be elected in 2008." and Williams asked, "Who? You?" and Hagel said, "No. I'm sitting right next to him." and pointed at Wes Clark! :wow:

7. If the war in Iraq...
Edited on Fri Mar-24-06 09:27 PM by Bush_Eats_Beef
...is going to get handed off to the president-elect in 2008, it should be handed off to someone with military experience.

If the Democratic candidate has not served in the military, I don't wanna KNOW about them.

And we CERTAINLY don't need another Republican chickenhawk or someone whose daddy kept them off the front lines.

I don't know a lot about Wes Clark. I supported Kerry in 2004, but I do feel that Clark is an honorable man who served honorably.

Whoever the candidate is...if they understand the consequences and costs of war from first-hand experience, they've got my ear. If the closest they ever got to war was seeing it on television, they can kiss my ass. Bush intends on leaving a mess that will need to be cleaned up by someone with practical, real-life experience.

9. Hagel saying we've gotten away from the lessons learned in the past
and that he believes that a self correction is in the process and will show in the election of 2006 and 2008.

I'm not holding my breath, but this gives me a little hope.

8. That was a very interesting personal story from Clark about being shot.
And how one day shaving on the same day 9 years later he finally let go of wanting to get the guy who shot him.

10. I pray that is right.
Logical part of me is saying - too little, too late.

And God bless General Clark for even trying - a great man no matter what happens now.
