I heard on NPR today that if Rummy resigns, Lieberman is on the short list
to replace him... :wtf:

I'm not saying it would be all that surprising given his record, but seriously...he's a godless heathen (and a Jew at that! :o) Dem...surely they jest?

Anyone else hear this?

1. A while ago I heard that, but not for a month or two.
Somehow, I just can't see that happening. Not that he's supposed to be a Dem, but because of his personality. I just can't see him as the head of DOD for ANYBODY!

2. Or Bush could choose someone like Sam Johnson (3ed District TX)

Kind of like Reid's reason statement on impeachment

3. Same rumor that made the rounds the last
time it looked like rumdum was going to "spend more time with his family." I bet he is on the short list but doubt they would actually choose him. On the other hand, he may be even less competent at Defense than Rummy, so maybe he will fit right in.

6. I really wish Rumsfeld would resign..
and Holy Joe would take his place because then Holy Joe would be out of work in two years and CT voters can elect a real Dem (like Lamont) to replace him.

7. Does Holy Joe have any administrative experience over a
huge bureaucracy? Just wondering.

16. A namby-pamby Joementum in charge of the military? A sure LOSER
Yip, the way he battled CHEENEE in the "debates" was really awesome----------NOT! I love most grandmothers, but he's a WEAK grandmother. Nobody respects him, especially would NOT the wingnuts in the military. If Shrub does this, and I hope he does, it would show Shrub for the abysmal decision maker we know he is. After all, his true colors are when he names Harriet MIERS and the rest of his cronies. He was FORCED to name ROBERTS and SCALITO by his wingnut wing. Is the governor of CT a Dem? to name the replacement?

17. It's a lie..
Think about it people: republicans are gonna have plenty of trouble maintaining control over the Senate. You think they're gonna take their ace-traitor-in-the-hole and make their Senate situation worse? And give liar-man's seat to progressive Lamont?

That doesn't pass the laugh test.

18. You have to remember, nobody sane wants this job.
Lieberman would take it because he seems to have this thing where he really craves acceptance from Republicans and their friends, and perhaps he believes that he could actually fix the problem. I think most people with real military experience probably look at this as a situation which is terminally fucked up and that about all they'd get the chance to do would be cut Rumsfeld's losses and take the fall for him.

I have to say that if that does happen, I think it would be a great thing. One, it is just possible that Lieberman would be less of a disaster than Rumsfeld. (I know, I know. But really: Rumsfeld is a BIG frickin' disaster). Two, he's alienated from the Democratic Party anyway, so when he becomes the scapegoat for Rumsfeld's failure it won't tar everyone else. Three, the sooner he changes party affiliation, the better off we are. Maybe he could take Zell with him.

C ya,

The Plaid Adder

19. Joementum would be the scapegoat for the Iraq disaster
When the Repukes come to the moment when they inescapably have to admit the disaster, they could blame it on him as their face-saver.

20. The Beltway Bozos say Joementum for Secty State, not Defense
Bozo BARNES is saying that Shrub should "rejuvenate" his mal-administration with:

1- CHEENEE resigns. 2- Condo slips in as Vice Resident, annointed successor. 3- Joementum as State. 4- Darth Rums as chief of staff. 5- CHEENEE as Defense!!!!!

Bozo KNONDRACKE said this would be a sign of desperation, admitting that the whole shop is in deep doo-doo.
