Busted Blogger's New Apology
Contrition
By: Augustine · Section: Miscellania

I want to apologize to National Review Online, my friends and colleagues here at RedState, and to any others that have been affected over the past few days. I also want to apologize to my previous editors and writers whose work I used inappropriately and without attribution. There is no excuse for this - nor is there an excuse for any obfuscation in my earlier statement.

I hope that nothing I've done as a teenager or in my professional life will reflect badly on the movement and principles I believe in.

I'm deeply grateful for the love and encouragment of all those around me. And although I may not deserve such support, it makes it that much more humbling at a time like this. I'm a young man, and I hope that in time that I can earn a measure of the respect that you have given me.

Regards,

Ben

2. Oh, shut up.
I just hate it when sleazy people try to act with integrity after they get caught.

3. You're done, Domenech. Go away.

15 minutes is up.

You were done in by what usually does in arrogant, hypocritical, self-serving, disingenuous, deceitful right-wingers: being arrogant, hypocritical, self-serving, disingenuous and deceitful.

4. Chickenhawk dipshit coward.
He should be in uniform in Iraq, carrying a rifle, putting his worthless ass in the firing line.

5. He's sorry he got caught. And he's sorry people didn't believe his lie
Edited on Sat Mar-25-06 01:36 PM by Eric J in MN
about it, that an evil-editor inserted the plagiarized paragraphs (since the plagiarism was in more than one publication, that lie didn't stand up.)

But would he be sorry he plagiarized if he hadn't gotten caught? I doubt it.

7. Blah, blah, blah ...
"I hope that nothing I've done as a teenager or in my professional life will reflect badly on the movement and principles I believe in."

Not to worry. The things you've done in the past are perfectly in KEEPING with the principles you believe in.

You are a liar and a thief, you steal other people's work product and pass it off to your own credit, and you don't think twice about it until you're caught red-handed (yes, pun intended), at which point you apologize only because you have no other choice.

You're a devoted Republican, and a lousy human being. But then, the two go hand-in-hand these days, don't they?

8. Well, good for him . . .
having seen the errors of his ways in his professional life, perhaps he'll grow enough in coming years to recognize the errors in his political and social thought and make amends in those arenas, too.

9. He's lying off course....
Edited on Sat Mar-25-06 01:42 PM by BlooInBloo
... But more importantly: He's not just gonna disappear. Instead, he's gonna be "writing" under an assumed name. We need to keep an eye out for "new hires" under assumed names.

EDIT: What more sincere, high-minded act of contrition could there be for him than to ENLIST?

10. The New Meaning Of Sorry!
Sorry: when you have run out of options to cover up a lie, and have no recourse but to pretend that you feel bad about what you have done. Being sorry should only occur as a last resort and only after you have been caught so red-handed that any other response would only compound the problem.

11. Cheaters always get caught
We're just lucky this one got caught early, before he went on to real destructiveness.

The fact that he was a rising star at Regenery should have been a tipoff as to his abilities.

13. Oh my God, it's the CLASSIC pattern!
First, demonstrate that you have no sense of remorse, responsibility, or shame...and then, when you can no longer maintain your innocence, act like you're sorry and throw yourself on everyone's mercy.

It's the classic pattern for plagiarists...coincidentally, it's also the classic pattern for Bush Republicans.

C ya,

The Plaid Adder
