legislation? And why can't we get this support for, oh, voting rights, impeachment, anti-war?
I know, it's happened but not covered much. These pics say it all. Thanks!

5. I am torn..
It's good that corpomedia thinks it worthwhile to cover these demonstration extensively.
... and yet, and yet...

I can't help but remember 1) before the invasion and 2) during the convention in NY and 3) huge crowds in DC

Why did we have to find traffic-cams to look in? I will never get over that as long as I live.

23. What if they will use this to get the bill passed?
All those hoards of "illegals" holding up signs written in Spanish -- it reinforces the notion that the problem is with "those people" rather than with a corporate structure that plays screw the worker with undocumented workers being the easiest targets.

I am against illegal immigration because of this and would like to see Congress really address the issue, but that bill is wrong-headed on every level.

Guess they can't, cause no one forecast how many would turn out. Now imagine if these fiery working class people who BELIEVE in American ideals of free speech, equality, etc., all get citizenship and voting rights. They WILL turn out at the polls, and they WILL demand that their elected representatives answer to the people and promote the GENERAL WELFARE, and not toady to the corporate elite and their lobbyists.

29. No, not all
But many of them have parents and grandparents who were/are illegal. Others have ancestors who have been in California since before there was a California, or even a United States. All of them know what it is to be treated as second class citizens.

There are 11 million undocumented workers in this country. How well do you think this country would function if they were all sent home?

This is a labor rights issue, global labor rights.

30. Obviously not
I have relatives who went to the rally who are here completely legally. The idea that every single person there is "illegal" is pretty racist. It was a case of Latinos standing up for human rights. The Republican bill is completely inhumane and that's what people are protesting against.

Sorry, I think those South of the border should come in the same way everyone else does...immigrate legally by taking residency and becoming a citizen at some point.

And, they can wait their turn in the lottery just like everyone else.

There are people all over the world that want to get into the U.S. and DO follow the rules in order to immigrate. The fact that it's possible to walk across the border, doesn't give anyone more right to be here.

Thank you marchers. You make me proud. I don't believe in a politics that divides us and wants us to fear our neighbors. I know illegal immigrants who have worked, paid taxes, own property and can't get legal residency. It's not very easy if your brown to get legal residency in this country.

47. Ummmm....
Minnesota has a large community of LEGAL immigrants from Somalia, Ethiopia and Laos. There is no indication that their skin color worked against them at all. We certainly haven't had a similar influx of white immigrants from anywhere during this time (unless you count North and South Dakota).

I don't think this is about being "brown." It is about being in the U.S. illegally.

that the peace movement ought to think about picking up. Notice how much more vivid these pictures look since so many of them wore white t-shirts. It makes them stand out in a way that we didn't at the Sept 24th protest.
