"Bush Urges Congress to Save Tax Cuts"
WASHINGTON (AP) - Boasting that the economy is strong and growing, President Bush urged Congress on Saturday to save tax cuts from expiring and adopt the first spending restraints in nearly a decade on such benefit programs as Medicaid, Medicare and student loans.

In his weekly radio address, Bush said the federal budget faces the challenge of long-term deficits driven by mandatory spending on those entitlement programs.

"We do not need to cut entitlements, but we do need to slow their growth," he said.

Before leaving for the holidays, the Republican-controlled Senate passed legislation to cut federal deficits by $39.7 billion. The measure passed by the narrowest of margins, 51-50, with Vice President Dick Cheney casting the deciding vote.

I am now used to hearing that the government lied, causing suffering to real Americans and other citizens, we shouldn't be used to corruption, especially this much!

3. Can't he just do whatever the hell he wants to now?
The theme of his last half-dozen press conferences has been that what Bush wants, Bush gets. Laws and lawmakers be damned.

Who needs a Congress or a Supreme Court when we've got King George?

4. It's as if these people have never had a credit card before.
Really, I don't think they understand the simple concept of borrowing with compounded interest.

8. I thought Republicans were fiscally conservative, so one would expect true
Republicans, knowing of the expanding HUGE deficit, would vote AGAINST tax cuts for the wealthy, while true neocons, wishing for perpetual war, and killing the govt would vote FOR tax cuts for the wealthy. I guess we will soon see who is who.

10. Neocons aren't conservative.
Conservatives wish to conserve...hence the derivation of the word.

Name one thing the Bush administration has sought to conserve. I bet a nickel you can't.

12. reread my post. I am calling Republicans to differentiate by voting down
tax cuts.

One thing the buSh administration has sought to conserve is the high profit margins for the defence contract business. 5 cents, please.

14. I wasn't disagreeing with you.
But it's a simple semantical fact that the people calling themselves "conservative" are no such thing.

Hell, I'd love to have a real conservative in office...one like Teddy Roosevelt perhaps.
