2. Amen to that.
The BA never did explain how
Pat Tillman died- and I mean the real explanation.

3.  I knew who Pat Tillman was before 9/11....
as I am a big sports fan. I remember that guy played undersized in college and was just an animal. He was the Pac-10 defensive player of the year. Not many thought he could make the NFL, too small to be a linebacker, not fast enough to play in the secondary. Well, he switched to safety and basically out of sheer balls and hard work made himself a helluva NFL player. I always respected that guy, even before most people ever heard of him. He was something else. It's a real shame what happened to him and how it was covered up. He ended up being the RWers poster boy, even though he would have rather not have been. None of them are even in his class.

5. He's the right-wingers' poster boy, all right, but not the way they
expected.

6. not now anyway
however, they practically lived off the guy when he left the NFL for the military. Sports broadcasts typically give out bits of RW propaganda, always romanticizing the military etc. And, that's fine as long as it sticks to the "support the troops" type stuff. However they went way over the line with the Pat Tillman deal. Shoveling on him unwanted attention. Using his story as a recruitment tool. I wouldn't even say that his become all that negative of a problem for most of the populace. They mainly remember him for hyper-patriotic reasons. This is a story that could have legs, but not enough people know much about. Most people aren't all that in tune with his whole story. It's like the "Saddam behind 9/11" thing. People are ignorant to anything which has some depth to it.

8. I met Pat
When he played for the Cardinals; he was an incredibly nice guy who was obviously well-read and very savvy about world events.

He was a hell of a human being.
