SIS-A dreaded psychological disorder.
Scandal Overload Syndrome--it affects different people in different ways, but it's always ugly. For me, the main symptom seems to be a simple inability to keep all the information in my head. It's like trying to memorize the patterns in a rotating kaleidoscope. All the Abramoff entanglements, from the tribes to SunCruz to DeLay to Ney, connections to AIPAC & 9-11...every 3 hours there's a new story about new connections. I mean, hell, I remember Watergate, and I remember that at any given time I could tell you who all the major players were and how they fit into the overall puzzle, and I was up on the minutia of each day's new revelations. But the current snarl of scandals is all turning to mush, like somebody put my brain in a blender. Is it just me? Am I slipping into dementia? Or is everyone experiencing SIS?

4. Yes, I know..just watched a re-run of the C-Span Tuesday Abramhoff
scandle, came here and saw a link to a story on TPM about a group of people who are starting some Jewish/Christian group with the usual list of RETARDED Christian leaders...and lo and behold the Rabbi Lathan's name pops up...and that was the Rabbi Abramhoff wrote to for phony awards and letters of recommendations and the Rabbi wrote back, "what, you want plaques with that or just letters?"

There are SO many in ALL walks of life who are DIRTY as HELL it is going to be impossible to keep up!

7. I read that as "You want plagues with that...?"
Freudian slip of the eye.

5. Mental Juggling....
with way too many balls? I tell myself often to concentrate on one thing...but that one thing leads to another and before you know it....my brain is doing loop-dee-loops connecting people, places, and things, across decades and continents...until I inevitably give it up....only to re-start the process all over again from another angle.

8. Yeah, that's it exactly.
Somehow, whether Watergate was altogether simpler or my brain was more complex in those days, I had a handle on it. Come to think of it, maybe it was all those drugs in the 70's & I only THOUGHT I knew what was going on.

Anyway, you're describing my SIS pathology precisely.

6. I'm definitely experiencing Scandal Overload Syndrome --

but shouldn't the acronym be SOS, not SIS? You're the shrink so perhaps you had something else in mind that explains the I instead of O? Or perhaps it's an example of SOS? Whatever, I just took a six-week sabbatical and it was lovely.

9. Aw who the hell knows what I had in mind?
I probly mistyped it. Or meant Scandal Inundation Syndrome. Or something.
