Laura Ingraham's Iraq Diary: What a bonehead!
Edited on Mon Mar-27-06 12:00 PM by BurtWorm
Ingraham, in case you don't know, is the dope whose sunny view of Iraq caused CBS's Lara Logan to lose it on Howard Kutz's Reliable Sources yesterday. She is the winger other, more cowardly wingers will now cite to support their previously totally unsupportable claim that things are vastly better in Iraq now that Saddam is gone and vastly better than the American media make it out to be.

The first thing you notice when you read her piffle is how sheltered she is during her voyages, spending virtually all her time in mess halls and being transported from one secure army base to another. But when she does venture out to meet actual Iraqis, predictably, she is met with horror, and, more predictably, her blinders lead her to make the absurd claim that Saddam is to blame for what she's seeing:

Later on we headed to the public children's hospital, where we saw just how badly the average Iraqi fared under 40 years of dictatorial rule. Mothers and fathers streamed through dirty halls and stairways waiting to be looked at by one of the hospitals' doctors. They stared at us- again, we were in full body armor, which I hated- and I did my best to say hello in Arabic and smile. But the sense of desperation and weariness of these people was heartbreaking. Twenty infants were lined up in a ward, sometimes two to a bed- all without sheets. At least a quarter looked like they wouldn't make it. The mothers wanted to speak with us but many had tears in their eyes. After seeing one particularly feverish child who would not stop coughing or crying, I just lost it. Had to leave the room. The "neo-natal" room was just as bad- two babies in each incubator, crying mothers. It was just heartbreaking. The doctors do what they can with their limited resources. The good news: they will soon have a new wing neo-natal and pediatric wing thanks to the generosity of the American people and hard work of the USACE and its contractors. The two pediatricians we spoke with were dedicated to helping their people. Many physicians have fled Iraq for security and better pay in other countries. But these men are here for the long haul.

Infants suffering three years after the war began and Mission Accomplished, and she's blaming...Saddam?! :eyes:

3. She made a little noise but by and large most people don't buy
the "where's the good news" crap. Her fly in/fly out was pointless in the grand scheme of things. Especially compared to real journalists like Nic Roberts and that Aussie guy.

9. Ware was awesome on Maher! A true testament to what REAL reporting is.

Maher compared him to Edward R. Murrow.
Ingraham should slither back to her cave and go back into hibernation.

4. Thems time-warp babies.
Sadam froze them in the 80's with technology he stole from us!

In addition to giving them Freedom and Democracy, we're also thawing those poor kids out. God Bless George Bush!!

7. By her OWN admission:
...Having a bathroom inside the trailer was a luxury--but no one told me I needed to bring a towel too...

...I thought about the wounded--physically and emotionally. God please comfort them...

...I felt both awkward and on edge as we snaked our way through cement barriers, past dilapidated shops and garbage-strewn streets...

...Of course the security situation here is still terrible. The continuing terrorist threat is obvious by the number of cement barricades and checkpoints, the practical limits on where we can go, and the security sweeps even inside military bases. The asymetrical warfare being waged by the Islamo-fascists continues to be a difficult challenge...

She also admits to having to wear full body armor while traveling. And against that backdrop, we're supposed say, "Well, at least the schools have reopened?" A high school teacher was beheaded in front of his class last week! It's not a "security situation"--THE WAR IS STILL ON!!!

10. USO Tours Face A Greater Danger
I did a little looking into this "8-Day Tour" of the "war zones" by these supposed "media types"...all right wing talking heads (with microphones in hand)...including that wench from San Francisco that led the "Cindy doesn't speak for me" crap and other employees of Salem "Media"...the company that owns the majority of stations Ingraham and other right wing zealots hang out.

Much of this tour was far from anything resembling a war zone. There was a couple days in Kuwait and Qatar (what, no Dubai??), then over to Baghram in Afghanistan and two days inside the green zone in Baghdad. They were convoyed under heavily military escort throughout and every need to make sure their daily broadcasts back to the states was a priority. Guests were arranged by the DIA and outsourcers like the Lincoln Group. Who knows how many hundreds of thousands of our dollars were thrown away on this propagandistic dog and pony show that was only designed to create anger and hatred in the U.S. rather than shed a brighter light on what was really going on in the war zones.

It's time to call these chickenshits on their heads...put them on the defensive and never let up...Ingraham is near the top of that list. How dare these sanctimonious, arrogant and ignorant shits dare tell us what reality is as their prime job is to divide and spread hatred within' this country. They're the ones who are demoralizing the "war effort" with their whinning and attacks...and they're the ones who really need to shut the fuck up! Time will come that they'll have to take account for all those lies and the blood on their hands.

12. Well, now that I've read her piffle, I'd like to ask her why she didn't
tell us all the good news. All I saw was that she had to travel with the soldiers to a few specific locations, but no real good news to report.

Wait a minute, I take that back. She did say: "The good news: they will soon have a new wing neo-natal and pediatric wing thanks to the generosity of the American people and hard work of the USACE and its contractors." So I guess the good news is still in the future.

Lara Logan's smackdown was priceless.
