MANY cheap labor pro illegal immigration apologists are racist

I have lost count of the number of times I have heard the following:
"Well, we need those people here. They do the jobs that Blacks used to do, but they just don't want to work anymore"

Yeah, I guess that's how it was before those Blacks got all uppity and all. Sure...

1. This whole debate is really about whether slavery should be legal again

or something just this side of slavery anyway.

It isn't about whether current illegal aliens should stay or go. We've set up a false dichotomy.

The real question is whether this country should have a third tier of people with fewer rights. We currently do illegally. Bush and Co. would like to make it legal to have a third tier of people with fewer rights.

Whether it is legal for people to stay here or not, employers should have to follow labor laws for everyone. I don't know the best way to make that happen but my guess is it would be to allow people to stay and make it legal for them to work but force employers to follow all current labor laws for them.

2. There has been a none-to-subtle attempt to redirect

anger over illegal immigration onto blacks. It was dreadfully apparent during and immediately following Katina (the blacks won't rebuild Katrina but we'll bring in illegal immigrants to do the job). I would also suggest that DUers watch or rewatch "Crash" with this in mind. It REALLY is no surprise that it took home the Oscar gold.

Many, if not most, of our domestic issues would disappear if we did this.
