Overheard Conversation
I am currently visiting my parents in Nebraska due to being unemployed as a result of the "great economy" brought to us by our *ahem* "president". At the next table were a group of very conservatively dressed, very white-haired induhviduals. I overheard (honestly - no eavesdropping) one of them telling in great distress how her grandson was sent away to college (presumably to become smarter and more educated) and became *gasp* a DEMOCRAT!!!! Her advice to her daughter? "Bring his butt home!" I find it extremely satisfying that even today, young people can escape the yoke of republicanism and become smarter, more educated and democratic individuals through the miracle of higher education.

2. I thought you were going to say the grandson had to come back
home because after Bush's latest budget cuts, he could no longer afford his college loans! That would show 'em.

George Bush: "Gotta educate them yung uns, so they talk better'n I do!" :sarcasm:

4. imagine that--sent to college, where, presumably, the object is to learn
to THINK for oneself--and the person becomes a DEMOCRAT-- oh, the horror, the unutterable shame of it!! WHERE did the college go wrong????

6. Best of luck re: your employment situation...
I'm currently doing temp work because I was downsized out of a job, so I feel your pain.

And congrats on being able to hold your tongue when confronted by such irritating ignorance.

And welcome to DU!

7. If they want his butt to come home, fine
just as long as the rest of him stays in college.

Butts make the best rethugs.
