7. Why are you saying HE'S racist? He wants the employers to be
penalized for breaking the law! I'm missing the point of your argument.

10. I am not sure if you have been following his long rant ever
since he came back from "retirement" he's been bashing migrant workers. That said, and regardless of what angle you look at it at immigration, he seem to have agenda that resonates with protectionism and racism.

12. Well, we'll need to disagree on that one.
I do watch Lou every night, and I've never heard him say anyting racist. He is against ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, as am I!

If there's a problem processing legal immigrant applicants, which it sure seems like there is, then FIX THAT PROBLEM!

Son't you understand, it's the employers who are exploiting the illegals...BECAUSE THEY CAN!

That kind of behovior benefits ONLY the fat cat employers to the detriment of everyone else!!!!

you know, like it's against the law. it also leads to an anarchic economic system driving wages down. the lower middle class is suffering!!!!!!!!!

i'm tired of people saying if you're against ILLEGAL immgration you're a racist. that's BS.

migrant workers are doing...hard back-breaking work. Please don't blame the migrant workers.....instead why not blame an economy that demands on "supply & demand"...Capitalism!

21. That is total and utter BS
Americans won't work for SLAVE WAGES, but there isn't any type of work that Americans wont, or haven't, or aren't, doing.

Lou wants to hold the corporations responsible and fine them for hiring illegal workers.

23. "your"?
isn't it "our"? i assume you and i both live in the US. are you condemning the lower middle class as being lazy? many have not had the advantages many of us have had as far as education. perhaps you should rethink your comment. and try to explain your glorification of people who sneaked into the US ILLEGALLY. BTW, employers are as culpable as the creeps who smuggle the illegals in.

30. What fucking hill of roses and champagne satin do you lie upon?
"your" lower middle class? Get out in the REAL WORLD and at least buy a vowel if you can't afford a clue. My best friends husband now has to bid his jobs at about three fucking fifty an hour ~ WHEN HE CAN GET THEM ~ due to the influx of illegal, under the table ALIEN (that's right, I said it) labor. Her lower middle class family is suffering greatly along with her husbands health.

Supply and demand my ever-loving ASS! The supply of workers was plenty in this country AND STILL IS. There IS NOT A SINGLE JOB U.S. citizens will not due for a fair wage and a little respect. I myself have detassled corn and picked beans. My mother cleaned bed pans and cleaned the feces and urine from the dead, brushed their hair and got them to the mortuary.

Supply? Yeah, let's go ahead with an idiot policy that allows corporations to continue supply their workforce with desperate workers and thereby continue the sickening practice of treating their immigrant labor force not as human beings but an ever-revolving exploitable resource that will never be exhausted. Keep killing them, maiming them, wearing out their bodies, pressuring them to sign obscene waivers of fault and when their bodies give out, or they lose a limb, go home fucker! BUSH loves this plan. Why does Bush love this idea so much? He's not just in it for the misery, death and destruction; he gets to make a SERF class out of the masses here too! How nice for him and his "some call you the elite..... I call you my base". Those of us not resting in Ivory towers ARE GETTING SCREWED.

Immigration needs to get real. It needs to be tightly controlled but at the same time MUCH more open. We don't even have any REAL employment/unemployment numbers here under this administration. The whole thing is Cheney'd up beyond belief, but the FACT is illegals are driving wages down. The bigger the corp is, the more they like it. Something has got to go.

9. Then I'm with Lou. I'm sick of watching the USA being sold off, given
away piece by piece. I'm for Made in the USA, meaning within the borders of the 50 states and territories where labor laws exist.

14. I'm Mexican and I agree with Lou. Am I racist?
FYI...my relatives settled south Texas 200 years ago. We've been in what is now the US longer than most.

This about loss of sovereign status and depressing wages. Our power elite are undermining our country and stealing from the citizens of the world (through inflation).

But, I guess throwing mean spirited labels is easier than actually thinking about the issue.

16. By the way, why do you see protectionism as bad?
That smacks of Kool-aid. The elite would have you believe that protectionism is evil and that those who endorse it are bad. Nothing could be further from the truth. You have way more control over your society and well being if the trade is controlled to protect jobs and prevent exploitation of workers etc.

You 'been conned.

you can't have it both ways that when United States sees itself as Imperial Power with 173 military bases around the world along with WTO, World Bank, and IMF on its belt....you ought to ask yourself why the rest of the world wondering why the US is being protectionist?

27. You obviously need to educate yourself.

Your comment is ill-informed I doubt that you have ever even watched his show. I don't see anything wrong with pointing out the fact that our bought / paid for government is not enforcing the law. Labeling anyone that would expose the truth a racist is exactly what they want because it deflects the argument away from the truth.

If our southern border was with any other impoverished country the discussion would be the same. Racism has nothing relevant to do with the problem.

Go take a look at this eye opener. Educate yourself with the facts.

And nobody is going to give them "amnesty."

It's a gross mis-characterization of the Kennedy/McCain plan.

Don't let the repuke re-frame the debate.

13. You are right....DU members should dissect the real issue
involved here, and not be blinded by simple illegal cross-border issue...that no one is against securing our border, or having strict penalties against employers who hire illegal workers under minimum wage, but that there has to be an immigration policy that is fair to the migrant workers as well as those oppressed asylum seekers, or refugees, or for those highly skilled workers that could enhance our economy against China and India.

26. Where do you come up with this garbage
When you can't adequately argue your case, you lower yourself to name calling. Isn't it ironic that the DUers who claim to support the poor immigrants are the ones who fly off the handle and spew hate towards anyone who doesn't agree with their philosophy.

28. Give it up, you could come up with 100 correct and logical arguments
against illegal immigration and you will ALWAYS be answered with name calling. Name calling is the only argument that so many of the open border people have. The facts, statistics and logic mean NOTHING.

31. Ain't that the truth?!
This issue exposes those in the party who think everyone who disagrees with them on any issue is some kind of rightwing ogre.

There are very good, rational reasons for opposing open borders, from the costs to cultural absorption.

Those who attack us claiming we're racist are simply proving how completely bereft of intelligence, logic, and compassion they are.

issues. Some people are just narrow thinkers, black or white. I even see that in this group. The thing is that many people are one issue people, if they don't have their issue represented the way that they want to they don't vote (or threaten not to). Pubs are the same way, but they are one issue voters according to thier party's issue that they have chosen to run on. The pubs unify together and follow their marching orders. Here, you see some really big arguments over issues and in the case of immigration, the arguments to keep open borders defy logic.

given jobs to illegals because they wanted them to have some way to support themselves, not because they love slave labor.

But I would guess that most hired illegals as a sleazy cost-cutting measure rather than an act of helping someone out.
