Breaking : CAT TERRORISM IN CONN. - LEVEL RED
Crazy Cat Terrorizes Connecticut Town Wed Mar 29, 7:24 AM ET

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Residents of the neighborhood of Sunset Circle say they have been terrorized by a crazy cat named Lewis. Lewis for his part has been uniquely cited, personally issued a restraining order by the town's animal control officer.

"He looks like Felix the Cat and has six toes on each foot, each with a long claw," Janet Kettman, a neighbor said Monday. "They are formidable weapons."

The neighbors said those weapons, along with catlike stealth, have allowed Lewis to attack at least a half dozen people and ambush the Avon lady as she was getting out of her car.

Some of those who were bitten and scratched ended up seeking treatment at area hospitals.

2. I got a crazy cat from the animal shelter but she's never attacked--still,
a year and a half after I've had her, she often acts skittish even though she's got a great life and loving owner now. I think if animals, like people, are abused in early life, it is really hard for them to get over it.

4. Where are the cat scanners the 9/11 Commission recommended?
Another recommendation has been ignored at the citizen's peril.

9. If Felix were an indoor cat, he could harm nobody.
Except for the folks who put him in "prison." I've got 2 happy & healthy indoor cats, but they've always lived indoors.

Softpaws are another option; the humane alternative to declawing.

However--who would undertake the dangerous job of applying them?

14. Whoa! That cat
looks exactly like one of our cats. Eddie seems so docile. And yet, he has a certain look in his eye sometimes......

This story cracks me up, but on a more serious note I firmly feel pet cats should be kept indoors. Period. Four times now, we've stopped to pick up a cat who'd been hit by a car and taken him to our vet. Twice when we lived in the city and twice since we've lived in the country. If we've found four of them, imagine how many there really are. And this kind of accident is only one of many ways a cat can come to harm out there. We found another in our yard eating bird feed - not exactly proper chow for a cat. We brought him in and took him to the vet, too, but we were too late. He died of starvation at the vet's office. He was wearing a collar and tag - apparently he lived about 8 miles from us and had gotten lost.
