Iran rejects UN demand for halt to enrichment
Thu Mar 30, 2006 2:08 PM GMT

By Louis Charbonneau and Sue Pleming

BERLIN (Reuters) - Iran rejected on Thursday a U.N. Security Council demand that it halt uranium enrichment to reassure the world that its nuclear programme is peaceful.

"We will not, definitely, suspend again the enrichment," Iran's ambassador to the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Aliasghar Soltaniyeh, told Reuters.

Soltaniyeh spoke as Germany and the five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council were meeting in Berlin to discuss their next steps on Iran, with Russia and China seeking assurances that force would not be used.

After the talks, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said the participants had agreed Iran must heed the U.N. demand to halt enrichment, adding that the international community still sought a diplomatic solution to the stand-off.

1. Will NPT violater USA be subject to the same treatment?
Our recent pact with India violates NPT requirements that signatory nuclear nations NOT assist any state in the development of nuclear weapons.

"Article I

Each nuclear-weapon State Party to the Treaty undertakes not to transfer to any recipient whatsoever nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices or control over such weapons or explosive devices directly, or indirectly; and not in any way to assist, encourage, or induce any non-nuclear-weapon State to manufacture or otherwise acquire nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices, or control over such weapons or explosive devices."

The deal with India assists Indian nuclear weapons production, violating the NPT. Note that in the NPT a "non-nuclear-weapon State" is any nation that did not have nuclear weapons prior to 1967.

"For the purposes of this Treaty, a nuclear-weapon State is one which has manufactured and exploded a nuclear weapon or other nuclear explosive device prior to 1 January 1967."

Which definition includes India as a non nuclear weapons state. India's non-signatory status is irrelevent, our signatory status is. But as we know, laws don't matter to the cabal in Washington.
