1. When Rice says it was an "important diplomatic step", she means...
...it was "important diplomatic cover" for already scheduled military action.

8. Remember, when Saddam gave them 12,000 pages of documents?

To show he didn't have any WMD's or nuclear program.

They said he was playing 'hide & seek'. Dismissed it within a day.

You are so right. These people are nuts.

9. What happened was , Condi Rice intercepted it
before anyone at the UN could review it, and immediately blacked out 3000 pages, before letting the rest of the UN see it.

2. "If they deny working on bomb, we'll know they're lying". And
...interesting to note the differences in the two articles you post. The WP starts off pretty strongly with disclaimers and how much uncertainty there is with Iran. The Yahoo article is all about how much of a threat Iran is.

Here we go.

I'd like to ask Voinovich how good a job he feels Bolton is doing.

4. How can a 10 year away problem be defined as a "Crisis"?
Brecher's definition of crisis in ,,Toward a Theorie of International Crisis Behavior`` makes a difference between conceptual and operational terms.13.
Brecher's crisis definition in conceptual terms:
,,... a foreign policy crisis is a situational change in the external or internal environment which creates in the minds of the incumbent decision-makers of an international actor a perceived threat from the external environment to basic values to which a responsive decision is deemed necessary.``14
Brecher's crisis definition in operational terms:
,,... a foreign policy crisis is a breakpoint along the peace-war continuum of a state's relations with any other international actor(s). A crisis is a situation with four necessary and sufficient conditions, as these are perceived by the highest level decision-makers of the actor concerned:
a change in its external or internal environment, which generates
a threat to basic values, with a simultaneous or subsequent
high probability of involvement in military hostilities, and the awareness of
a finite time for their response to the external value threat.``15
This definition includes four essentials of a crisis definition:
surprise,
high probability of involvement in military hostilities,
a finite time for their response
a change of the situation is possible for the actors.

5. Uranium enrichment is allowed under the NPT.

Bullshit crisis.

Also see my post here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=792884&mesg_id=793079

Perhaps we ought to stop violating the NPT?

Perhaps the citizens of the united states ought to inform themselves about the NPT by actually reading it?

We are being lied to again. What a shock.

6. re intentions for Iran -Has anyone heard of 'reverse speech' analysis?
A frightening article by: www.ken-welch.com - and eperts in the reverse speech field( which reveals the speaker's sub-conscious) gives evidence that the recent WH speeches (Rumsfeld-Rice-*-Cheney-Gen. Pace-Bernanke etc. ALL reveal clear plans to detonate a nuke on this Easter (April 16th) in Texas port & attack Iran. A statement in Cheney's reverse speech pattern is: liberty out the door....
