phone, it was all so worth it! I am feeling so mixed up right now - thrilled she got the roses and so grateful for those volunteers who showed up to make it happen, exhausted, on cloud nine, and EXTREMELY teary. I've been so stressed about this being pulled off and now that it is, I think I'm falling apart! THANK YOU, EVERYONE OF YOU, FOR THIS!!!! We done good, y'all! We just made history and got to share our love with a woman that completely deserves it!

When you first brought up the idea of sending Helen Thomas roses, so many people agreed - but it was YOU that made it happen.

By organizing this, not only did you honor a great journalist, but you allowed us to honor her as well.

So many of us woke up today with smiles on our faces, knowing it was Helen Thomas Roses Day. We watched as the amazing volunteers got everything in place, as you wrestled with FedEx (do I remember you saying that you had to go take your child to school somewhere in the middle of all this?), and ultimately we all cheered when the first reports came through that Helen was truly pleased by our efforts.

You brought so much joy to so many, not just the beautiful American patriot that we honored today, but all of us on DU!

Here's an Iowa rose for you.
