I love that idea from the last thread! I missed making a second donation on Monday like I wanted to do (late home from work), so it should go toward this. Can we send to the original PayPal link used for the flowers? The Rose Brigade volunteers - let's at least DU this small appreciation for them!

The anticipation is killing me. I'd really love to see a photo of the greyhounds with legs crossed.

Some of the Vases were broken (I think only 5), the delivery of the vases were also stalled by FedEx somehow.

together. The roses arrived before noon but there was a SNAFU with the vases. The CEO of the florist company got on the phone with the FedEx big wigs and then the florist hired a private courier to bring the vases to the roses. See the previous threads for the whole nerve wracking story.

that one of the volunteers got this afternnon while parked at the Hearst offices in DC.

I'm not sure if the florist ordered more vases and had those sent by courier or if he sent the courier to pick up the vases from FedEx. Anywhoo, the vases are there now. :)

I donated, but I've been away and don't know how many we wound up sending her. Someone please tell me!!!!

Helen Thomas. I haven't been able to participate in this effort--just lost my job and we need to get our taxes paid before cutting back to subsistence level while I look for work. I wish I could have done something to help out. I admire Helen so much.

Spoke to DUers for 45 minutes.

What an awesome experience, and what a grand lady Helen Thomas is!! She wants to thank everybody involved, and asked how to get in touch with everybody. We gave her the website address, so we may be hearing from Helen in the near future. She was overwhelmed, and loved it. Helderheid, I passed on your message to her.

They are bringing in Roll Call tomorrow to take pics. As suspected, Helen will be donating most of the flowers to the veterans hospitals. She asked if we would like to take some home, but we declined. We told her we would rather they go to the veterans in the hospital.

I'll download the pics in a few minutes, just got home. Just wanted to let everybody know.

Thanks Helderheid and Minime and everyone else for doing a wonderful deed! And what a kind gesture giving the flowers to the vets. What a way to brighten a hospital ward.

Kudos to everyone involved! I missed the donation thing, but hopefully I can get involved next time!
