Bush preps historic Third Term - memo! is this a joke..?
Exclusive The US Department of Justice (DoJ) and the office of the White House Counsel are preparing a draft document laying out the President's wartime authority to remain in office past 2008, The Register has learned.

The scheme is described as an emergency "continuity presidency," made necessary by the extraordinary circumstances and unique challenges of protecting the United States from the threat of international terrorism.

"The world changed on 9/11," a confidential DoJ memo obtained by The Register explains, "and no Administration is US history is better suited to adapt productively to those changes than this one.

"The Attorney General supports the basic framework in the White House Counsel's draft proposal for a future Executive Order establishing a Continuity Presidency, with two provisos: 1. There must be at least the appearance of a time limit, which the AG believes might be satisfied by tying the duration of the Continuity Presidency to the duration of the GWOT ; and 2. The House and Senate Majority Leaders and the Chairpersons of the House and Senate Judiciary Committees must issue a written certification that they have approved the plan.

4. almost a year ago, TPM linked to the Congressional site with the bill to
repeal the amendment with the term limits for the president of the united states sponsored by Repig Chairman of the Judiciary Sennsenbrenner.

This is old news. What are we going to do about it still hasn't been answered.

6. People get the government they deserve... Where is the support for Senator
Russ Feingold's historic against this monstrous machine. There is too much on Helen Thomas. She is a great journalist and deserved the flowers but with Feingold's historic and lonely stand to protect our basic legal rights today, his name and photo should be all over the DU front page. If dems don't stand up, this lack of support when a public servant in office does the right thing against these nazis, we ignore them??

Please go to Russ Feingold's excellent article on the front page of Smirking Chimp and add your comment and thanks. There are only 27 comments since this morning and please sign up at Russ For President even if you haven't decided and read the excellent material on Russ stand for Censure, alone, as in by himself when the dems ran away from us and their oath of office to uphold the Constitution, and leave a comment there thanking him for his attempt to stop this police state and his lonely stand against the Patriot Act which every single "Democratic" Senator just signed with no amendments except for Feingold and Leahy.

9. Everything that callers to right wing radio
such as the Art Bell show, said that Clinton would do (callers said Clinton would not leave office in 2001) is happening under Bush...big brother is spying on Americans and now rumor that Bush is making contingency plans to stay in office.

13. It reads like an April Fool's joke.
The UK media really get into that. I've been taken in several times over the years.

Last year my local paper had a front page report of someone spray painting an entire tree pink up on the moor near my house, with a photo of the pink tree and everything. Fool that I am, I went out looking for it and it was only later that I realized what the date was.

I sincerely hope this article is a joke.
