Funny how gay marriage, anti-immigration, terror come up every election

And how many people buy into the issues brought up by the GOP every election year.

I've avoided the main forums because of my temper.

Seriously, the GOP forces the issue. Then some of us chime in, for example: "It's about ILLEGAL! We are a nation of LAWS!" Instead of saying "Bush BROKE the law with illegal wiretaps, what about THAT if we are talking illegal?"

I'm just one of those bleeding heart liberals who doesn't buy into the whole "immigrants are a threat to our country" meme.

It's only going to get worse, you know.

The blame game is just getting started.

The anti-immigration threads remind me of the Minute Men bubba fests from last year.

I almost left DU because of them.

The only thing that keeps me sane that all this squabbling is the direct result of another failure by the President. The chimp has no leadership ability none whatsoever.

I live in fundieville and it's easy to forget that there are a lot of us who don't buy the reichwing lies.

many already have certain views (or stereotypes) even if they aren't well thought out on these issues.

so they show images of people with mexican flags and try to make people think "they" want to take over. they don't show those anti immigrant bigots flying the nazi and confederate flags.

notice even the gay marriage issue just kind of went away. they can't really bring it up this year since they made such a big issue out of it during the last election and they haven't really done anything on it even though they control congress. yeah, they got their supreme court justices but the bigots are too stupid to see that's how they will really get a ban on it. i'm sure they will bring it up again in future years.

so make a huge issue out of immigration, add in an Osama video or a terror alert shortly before the election .

i'm not sure how many buy into it, but i'm guessing it's that certain percentage that seems to be so easily swayed in opinion polls. in a close election, it can decide who will be elected.

I'm sure they will be piping up any moment.

is that they're going to get all righteous and next thing you know, they're going to be supporting gay marriage. Between the cultures even. They might even use that as a way to get a green card.

Then they'll be dancing and prancing around with each other in the streets, waving both the Mexican and the Rainbow flags while jabbering in Spanish about the best way to wear a macho-man mustache. And that, of course, will lead to the downfall of our country.

So it's a good thing we have those fine young Minutemen at the border, proudly waving their Nazi and Confederate flags like true Americans.

God forbid the corporaticians should listen to the concerns of the people.

It allows them to convince working-class Americans that they actually care about their plight without actually doing anything substantial for working-class Americans. Of course, if the Republicans were really serious about protecting American jobs, they would tackle outsourcing.
