worried for our nation. With that as a foundation he'd be dangerous. He has nothing to lose and that would scare the shit out of the GOP and inspire our fellow americans, both on the left and the right, to take our country back from the wingnuts. Dont'cha think? Al Gore unleashed. I love it.

I was a Bradley delegate in 2000, so my comments on Gore early, early on were not especially positive. when my guy lost and Gore got the nomination, I worked furiously for the ticket. We knew it was going to be damned close.

Gore won Florida, that's all there is to it. Bush cheated.

Gore could ride the tide of that historical outrage, adding his much-needed and nearly pioneering voice on the environment to the mix. He could ride a tall white horse in the big White House, and he by god have my vote in the process.

They haven't had the benefit of seeing him unleashed like we have. He's a dynamic speaker and a ball buster deep down. And...HE'S PISSED!

My first real introduction to Canada -- don't laugh -- was "Canadian Railroad Trilogy" by Gordon Lightfoot. I was 17 and just beginning to experience some of the early singer-songwriter folk musicians.

It became apparent to me fairly soon that a huge percentage of the very best ones came from Canada!

Lightfoot. Ian and Sylvia. Joni Mitchell. Neil Young. Leonard Cohen. And so forth.

And it's just an aside, but our own Bob Dylan, asked about his opinion of Lightfoot's work, said, "When I hear one of his songs, I want it to last forever." I'm not sure a songwriter can hope for a higher compliment than to have Dylan wish his compositions would not end. So for me, Lightfoot is tops.

And that put Canada on my map early. My sister lived there (Montreal) for 3 years. My visits were educational and downright fun. What a beautiful country you live in.

Things are imploding at an exponential rate, now. Sheer exhuastion will get them.

While it's still fairly early in the game, I wonder if a good showing by Democrats in the midterms -- and a capture of the U.S. House majority along with it -- might seal the deal for Gore.

He'd watch the late returns and decide it might be wonderful to work with Nancy Pelosi as leader instead of the footstool we have in there now (Hastert), and he'd jump into the race.

Senator Clinton would be hardpressed to fend off a challenge by the once-and-future president.

No matter how I feel, on anything, to believe in it only leads to heartache if reality proves to be different.

I'm tired of having a hurt heart. From all who are leaders or wish to be leaders.

Therefore I will not form an ultimate opinion until the truth is said.

Our country needs honesty and vision and a clear groundwork on which to build ourselves.

No more chicanery. No more games. No more selling out. No more whoring out. America is rotting. We don't need any more false images, mirages, and empty hopes. We need solid reality. Both mainstream political parties do, but I digress.

When Al comes forward is when we shall know where he stands.

Or, indeed, we can infer just as much from his apparent silence on the issue as much as we can infer that we don't think he'd be the type to vote for the move.

Handwritten, no less, in the hopes such a personal note would merit more attention. I've been happy to see the enthusiasm for him on just about every thread that comes along here. It seems that whenever someone gets a chance to see him speak, he just seems like the most logical choice for 2008. If we're lucky, he'll run. If we're even luckier, he'll beat the rigged systems and win. I can't think of anyone else who's got a snowball's chance of cleaning up the mess we're in.

...frat boy, dilettante was next to my wife... but we were both civil, my wife and I. He was a stiff and cavorted with Ron Brownstein, a supposed liberal writer for the LA Times. Gore was just stunning and drowned out the negative vibes of the few quiet dissenters there. He was masterful!!!

Bring in the backbone campaign!! Bill moyer and Gore and Fiengold are speeking as much truth as possible. I feel so duped and cynical and frustrated. Hand counted paper ballots and instant run off voting is what we need and they would win a super majority.

I did back in 2000 I will now. If nothing else a Gore presidency would have to shift the conversation toward climate change.

at this point in the game. I thought the way he said it actually left the future open. Can't remember the exact words (anyone?) but they were something like "no plans to run...." Yeah and I have no plans to eat ice cream again but I most certainly will someday.

He says what's on his mind now. I LOVE that. When he ran in 2000, he was so wooden and PC. NOT ANY MORE! I'd vote for him in a heartbeat!:thumbsup:

Gore took New England, the "Left Coast," New Mexico, Iowa, and all the Great Lakes states except for Ohio. This is not good enough for 2008.

He could have taken Tennessee if he hadn't alienated law-abiding gun owners in his own home state.

If you run Gore again in 2008, I think you'll see the map repeat itself. Yes, I believe Gore rightfully took Florida in 2000, but Jeb Bush's gang have inflicted so much damage on the state's electoral process that I don't think he can take Florida in 2008.

I sympathize with Gore. By all rights, he should have been inaugurated in 2001. But a lot has changed since then, including the Democratic Party. We need someone who can take the Great Plains and possibly a couple of states in the South and the West.

by education, experience and life choices. He's (shock) not perfect, but he's patriotic, moral and clean as a whistle because lord knows if there was dirt on him they would have found it. He has been an eloquent defender of the good that America could be. He will set this country afire with his passion, and he will put us on a course to energy independence, a more sustainable environmental footprint, and a fairer economy.

I do not doubt that he could do it if we would get behind him and shout down the ditto-heads. Gore is the GOP's worst nightmare.

We'd at least be making some progress, instead of sending the Earth into its death spiral (as Dubya has been doing).
