all her own? She's so fucking out of touch...No wonder why these rich talking heads support Bush, they believe everything they are told by Rove & the White House spin, they don't really care, they only care about their silly gossip life in their cute little world...they live in this privileged limo, penthouse, Hampton's lifestyle and don't have a fucking clue...These are the fucks, telling us, what's happening?

Curic just did some story on Internet child porn...And she's so stupid, never once does she ask the kid about where were his parents, or about the couple hundred thousand bucks the kid raked in, or how the sickos paid for it, by credit card, PayPal or what? And then she is actually shocked to find the guys watching this kid jack-off on a home Internet camera are doctor's, lawyers, electricians, etc...you know what I mean, every day people... but the kid is not a child any longer, he's 21, (and has already raked in the bucks) and is now being exploited by Curic and his lawyer...All she does is sit there with her big deer-eyes, pretending to be so, so concerned, and like she's breaking the story of the year...What planet does this idiot woman live on?

1. And, she has NO excuse for it -- none!
She went to UVA and got a rock-solid education, and her sister was Emily Couric... who probably would have been Virginia's first female Governor if she hadn't died from cancer, Emily wasn't Barbara Boxer, but she was a decently liberal DEm who always had my vote....

4. I agree completely, especially with your first paragraph which sounds as
though you were reading my mind.

Since I don't watch NBC morning news or Couric, I didn't get to see the kiddie internet porn "expose." Frankly, I find her very boring.

27. More and more people are going to become rich because
more and more people are going to resort to crime to gain access to large sums of money.

And you know what, I don't mean violent crime either. I mean crimes of the intellect. There will always be people who are willing to buy religion, and people who are willing to be "selling preachers," people who need someone to tell them how to live and people willing to sell them daily and monthly advice.

I don't know the exact laws, but I know that SOME of what I have mentioned does break the law.

Criminals are going to think up as many scams as possible to attract possible consumers. I think that the ease with which some of the politicians and their friends made money while breaking the law, just encourages "thinking people" to come up with their own projects.

They always say "This kind of stuff happens in New York City (always spit out in some form of disgust), but not here..."

Oh yeah? Well fuck you, I say to those people. As if your small fucking town was immune to problems.

13. I have (2) Couric stories..
(1) A co-worker about 10 years back, was shopping in a 9 West shoe store in NYC, and Katie Couric was on the same line at the cash register, and Couric turns to her, smiles, holds out her hand and says, "Hi, I'm Katie Couric!". This co-worker said she did not do anything to provoke an introduction.

(2) Another friend worked on her colon cancer center (he was employed by the hospital) said she was very, very nice. He said she was really wrinkly up close (not a nice observation).

17. I don't think she's a bad person at all
but should be hosting Republican fundraisers and not dessiminating information (news) on network TV.

Her 10 million dollar (give or take) contribution to create the colon cancer center was a wonderful gift to NYC and has helped many people. I thought her on-air colonoscopy was a brave thing to do- again, she got a lot of people running to have their colons checked which has saved lives.

I do not think she is the devil, but her GOP bias is obvious. Her current boyfriend is a Repub big-wig (per my Mother's People magazine). And as you point out, she is not well-informed.

14. Couric versus Michael Moore...
COURIC: And wouldn’t your movie have been better balanced if you had at least included some about Saddam Hussein’s own reputation?

MOORE: You guys did such a good job of telling us how tyrannical and horrible he was. You already did that. What—the question really should be posed to NBC News and all of the other news agencies: Why didn’t you show us that the people that we’re going to bomb in a few days are these people, human beings who are living normal lives, kids flying kites, people just trying to get by in their daily existence? And as the New York Times pointed out last week, out of the 50 air strikes in those initial days, the—we were zero for 50 hitting the target. We killed civilians and we don’t know how many thousands of civilians that we killed. And nobody covered that. And so for two hours, I’m going to cover it. I’m going to—out of four years of all of this propaganda, I’m going to give you two hours that says here’s the other side of the story.

Moore later said that NBC gets faxes from Cheney's office with suggested questions for guests and also that the VP's office would critique them afterward.

20. I can't find the webpage but
right after Moore went on Today to promote F911, he said that he had had a discussion off air with one of the personalities there. They told him they they were under pressure from the VP's office to conform to certain guidelines and that it went as far as them faxing over specific questions to ask specific guests. Moore encouraged the person to tell the American public what was going on and said they can't do anything to you... "you are one of the most beloved morning TV personalities."

Moore announced this publicly and said he wanted to give this personality a chance to come forward on their own. If they didn't within 3 days, then he would announce who he was talking about. Ultimately the person didn't come forward and Moore did not name them but it seems clear it was either Lauer or Couric.

21. You know what I don't understand....
When they say "pressure" from the VP office (or other Bushco "pressure" we've heard or read about)...What kind of pressure? What exactly can or would they do? Or is that just a "playing ball" excuse the media always uses?

24. Restrict access is one
Heavy fines are another. CBS, after Dan Rather was suckered by bogus documents about Bush's TANG AWOL, dumped Rather and is still fighting a $3.6 mil fine from the * Admin (the new head fo the FCC is Kevin Martin who was formerly a lawyer for the Bush 2004 campaign):

A government crackdown on indecent programming resulted in a proposed fine of $3.6 million against dozens of CBS stations and affiliates yesterday -- a record penalty from the Federal Communications Commission.

The FCC also:Rejecting an appeal by CBS, the FCC also upheld its previous $550,000 fine against 20 of the network's stations for the Janet Jackson ''wardrobe malfunction" at the Super Bowl two years ago.

Compare that to the FCC treatment of Fox:

Responding to other complaints, the commission found that Fox Television Network had violated decency standards during the 2003 Billboard Music Awards. During the broadcast, reality-show star Nicole Richie uttered multiple expletives. But it didn't fine Fox because at the time, precedent indicated the commission would not act against isolated use of expletives, the FCC said.

26. Yesterday someone had a thread about Couric and someone wrote
that she "rocked". I couldn't believe that a member of DU was so misinformed. Couric is indeed a kiss ass Bushbot and loves to try to ineffectually go for the jugular of any critic of this sociopathic administration. She is nothing but a Corporate Whore. GE makes most of their money by being part of the Military Industrial Complex.

I also read about Couric dating that man too. What was odd was that it was originally reporting by the Washington Post in October 2005 and was just reported in the NY Daily News... Are they preparing the masses for wedding bells? For some reason, although I have no idea what his political leanings were, I can almost feel her husband rolling in his early grave. Her deceased sister was a Democratic State Senator in Virginia. She's probably being rattled too.......
