Has anyone heard of the Twenty First Century Democrats?
They called me asking for a contribution (of course).

Their website is 21stcenturydems.org. It was a mess when I got there, and told me nothing.

Anyone have any experience with them?

3. They claim to be progressive - a word that on its own ins meaningless
I got solicited too - but they were pretty vague on how they picked who they support. I really don't see why there are all these fringe efforts claiming to be Democrats.

4. They held "grassroots" training in Georgia
In January 2004. Our state party hired them to come for a weekend to train canvassers and voter registration folks. Some of the training was good, some not so much. I was disgusted by it because there had been little preparation or understanding of Georgia-specific demographics and regulations.

They are a political consulting firm, but they do a lot of state work. They've asked me for money too, but I don't quite understand why...

5. John Bonifaz is a progressive candidate
He is running for MA Secretary of State.

"In 1994, in an effort to start this fight, John helped start the National Voting Rights Institute which works to protect our constitutional right to a free and just democracy.

Through his work with the NVRI, John has battled cases related to absentee ballots, provisional voting, candidate filing fees, public access to contribution records, and enforcement of campaign spending laws, among other things.

John is a strong supporter of same-day registration, federal holiday and early voting, and restoring felon’s right to vote. He believes, like many Americans, that taking away any and all barriers to voting is the most decisive way to increase voter turnout and elect the kind of leaders who truly represent their constituents."
