Gas prices skyrocketing. Immigration. Tom Delay resigns.
Illegal wiretapping. Plame investigation. Iraq body count continues to climb.

Yet it seems, by the contents of this forum anyway, that the most important issue of the day is Cynthia McKinney.

Why did she change her hair? Was it a vast hair dresser conspiracy?

Why didn't she wear her pin? The least she could do is emulate the Repubicans and wear one of those little flag pins.

Why did she hit that cop? Wasn't she packing a 12 gauge shotgun? Why the fuck didn't she just blow him one in the face?

And about her weight!! I mean, honestly!!!! How can she be taken seriously when she isn't serious about weight control?

Ok, I feel better now. :eyes:

2. It's true--we can only discuss one issue at a time.
Part of the reason, I suspect, that McKinney's getting so much space here on DU is that the entire episode is controversial. All DU'ers are not in agreement about what happened to her or what should happen to her.

But Plame, wiretapping, Iraq body count, DeLay, Abramoff, Frist, the War against Christians, South Dakota's abortion ban, etc... These are issues about which DU is almost entirely in agreement, so there's less interest in a heated discussion about them.

18. There are some issues that are internalized.
Same with the greater body politic. Who bothers to argue whether the declaration of war in Iraq was a fuck up or not, for example? Everyone knows it was, whether they admit it or not, and people have moved on.
