He's sure going around acting like he's setting out for a new career maybe to replace Falwell and Dobson.

I don't think Cynthia McKinney is the issue we Dems should be concerned about enough to keep going at it and beating our heads against walls when we need to wait to see what comes out of it before we judge.

But, we sure know alot about Tom Delay and we better be concerned about where his case is going and if he will slip out of it and be a huge thorn in our side going forward.

The Matthews and Blitzers and the rest don't seem to think Delay will be indicted. I wonder if they've heard the word from their corporate masters and their allies in the Repug Operative Circles.

Shouldn't we be worried about what they know about where the investigation is going with him...rather than focusing on RW talking points about Cynthia McKinney? just saying..

4. IMHO, DeLay is going down ...
My prediction: Give it a few weeks, and you'll hear every Republican claiming they hardly knew the man.

That strange sound you'll be hearing over the next week or two will be the grinding of paper-shredders, as once-treasured photos with 'The Hammer' get turned into trash.

GOP loyalty tends to run thin in the face of criminal investigation - especially in an election year.

8. DeLay may be out of the House, but he's not FREE by any
judgement. I think he was told to get out because what's coming down is going to be very harmful to the Pubs!

10. Charges are still piling up, and investigations are moving along...
DeLay quit because the string-pullers of the GOP know he is a serious liability. He will go down, and hard. He will be sacrificed as necessary, and the GOP will flee from him in droves.

DeLay quit becasue he knows he's in some pretty deep stuff, and I'm sure his lawyer told him to back down before the cases hit trial. Not only is he going to trial in TX, there may well be some serious Federal charges as well.

DeLay will go to jail, if for nothing more than trying to make the GOP look as if it believes in justice to save their own skins.

12. I don't think he'll get off; what we're seeing is an act.
They can all be guilty as hell and it never ceases to amaze me how they go around acting as all is just fine. Remember - the repugs are all about image and appearances. I expect DeLay will be linked to Abramoff also and more charges could stem from that.

DeLay knows he's in for a huge legal fight; that's why he stepped out of the race so early - he needs the 3 million or so he's raised in his campaign for his defense fund. It's gonna get down and dirty here in Texas and hopefully, even though he's not a congressman any longer, he will continue to be in the spotlight as the poster child of corruption for the repugs. Our Democratic leaders need to make sure they use what they 've been handed to their advantage.

13. Legally, no. Any day now he's going to have a call from God
and repent, though. It might even be a Jim Baker moment...public confession and begging forgiveness.

His aims are to lead the RW Christian Evangelicals; that is even more terrifying than having him lead the Congress. They are going to forgive him then anoint him.

If anyone doubted they were a cult before, make no mistake about it now. In many ways, DeLays departure is very, very serious stuff in terms of what it means to America. :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared:

14. He'll join Fox News and rehabilitate himself
Look for the Tom Delay Show on a cable network near you....probably Fox, but these days it could even be NBC or CNN who becomes his path to rehabilitation and big bucks.

Remember when Ollie North was dismissed to the ash heap of history as a digraced lower-level bureaucrat who went too far? Now Ollie is treated as an icon of the right, and a military expert with his own show on Fox.

Newt left Congress in an embarassing way. Now he's considered a Wise She of the GOP.

G. Gordon Liddy? he actually was convicted and sent to jail. Now he too is a "respected" conservative commentator who capitalizes on his record of disdain for democracy.
