"The President of the United States willfully violated National Security
Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 02:26 AM by understandinglife
... to cover-up his willful launch of a war of aggression."

Don't ever forget it.

On 7 April 2006 at 9am EDT any Member of Congress actually upholding their oath of office should be at the White House demanding the immediate resignation of Bush and Cheney.

Enough crime. Enough murder. Enough deceit.

1. How about printing out some of the more
persuasive posts and (in the case of Lieberman--gleeful posts--with any luck he'll go ahead and declare as a republican and take his captain's ship to the bottom of the sea) mail them to their offices so they at least have to have someone in the office open a piece of paper. Their Email sites, I think even tell you that you can't get a reply without a letter so if they get a letter somebody will have to draft it--somebody far enough down the food chain should supply us with enough grammatical mistakes to pin it on a volunteer of some sort.

I have been pretty much been glued to my computer all day and I have seen some really intelligent suggestions on some blogs that I had never visited before about how to embarrass republicans. I have sworn off TV but from what I gather from this site, none of the stuff I was impressed with ever made it to the corporate media. Nows the time for activism!

4. substitute "betrayed" for "willfully violated".
and toss in the word "criminal" before "war of aggression" for good measure.

i refer to shrub's foreign policy as following the "hitler doctrine" since his rationale for invading iraq was the same rationale hitler used to invade poland. terrorists, self defense, trying to tie them to a single emotional domestic crime, etc.

5. I used your title and wrote this letter to EVERY TN senator.
The President of the United States willfully violated National Security.

Do you support this kind of blatant disregard for our national security? Do you support Mr. Bush lying to us on live television that anyone found leaking information would be fired? Do you do support this kind of guerrilla politics? Do you think it was legal for Mr. Bush to out a CIA agent simply because her husband disagreed with the war in Iraq and could prove that there were no WMD?

If you do you deserve to be defeated in the next election.

We need to get rid of the crime and corruption in D.C. and in politics.

How can we ever trust you if you don’t stand up for what is right and just? Be different for once and stand up against the tide and do not allow our beautiful state of Tennessee and our incredible country to be swallowed whole by evil politicians who’d rather have power than peace, who’d rather have wealth and fame, than feed hungry children, who’d rather have war than tell the truth.

George W. Bush should be held accountable for his lies. Do not let him get away with them.

8. Larry Johnson: George W Bush, Rogue President
An excellent analysis, as usual, by Larry Johnson:

If you saw Cameron's version of TITANIC, I am sure you recall the scene just after the ship disappeared below the surface and the heroine, Rose, was grabbed and forced underwater by another passenger who couldn't swim. Today, Scooter Libby was that passenger and George W. Bush is Rose. Only in this case, there is nothing heroic about George W. Bush. In fact, Bush is a coward.

It is important to put the chronology of the dispute about what the President knew about Iraq and its effort to get uranium and when he knew it in its proper order.

<clip>

What we now know, without any shadow of doubt, is that Joe Wilson's version of events, namely, that Iraq had not tried to obtain yellowcake uranium in Niger, was accurate. In fact, the CIA had to recant on the President's 16 words in the State of the Union address, which claimed the opposite was true.

Today's revelation is simple and riveting -- the effort to smear Joe Wilson went to the very top of the White House. This was not an operation of rogue political operators. Instead, we have a rogue President. If we can impeach a President for lying about a blow job from an intern, the time has come to impeach a President from giving the American people a line of bullshit about Iraq used to justify a war that has left almost 2400 American soldiers dead. George Bush did not leak to protect America. He leaked to cover his ass. That, my friends, is the definition of a coward.

Peace.

9. Steve Clemons: "Bush's leak makes all other leak controversies look small.
Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 11:41 AM by understandinglife

<clip>

This is an administration that has actually gone back to the National archives to reclassify declassified information. This administation is obsessed with creating fortresses around secrets, and then the "top dog", as Karl Rove has called him, went and leaked highly classified material.

<clip>

Let's have some honesty about this. That material has never been officially "declassified" as part of a process. The material that was leaked (i.e. "declassified" by the President) is not over at the National Security Archives at George Washington University.

This was a selective declassification if one wants to be generous, but the defense of the President's actions holds no water if the information was not more broadly promulgated than Judith Miller and the other involved journalists. In fact, did Judy Miller think that she was getting "declassified" information -- or was she trafficking in "Secret" information. I think the latter.

The President's potential defense that this was legal is irrelevant. His behavior has undermined all other leak cases and prosecutions where officials were engaged in official work but not self-dealing and engaged in corrupt acts.

10. Rep Waxman: "The thrust of these new revelations is that you and your ...
... advisors at the White House have been engaged in a much wider and systemic effort to undermine and flout the classification provisions of your own executive order. On one hand, you and your advisors appear to have selectively released classified information in an attempt to support your case for war and blunt the criticisms of Ambassador Wilson. On the other hand, you and your advisors seem to have improperly concealed information indicating that you were warned that intelligence on Iraq's nuclear program was challenged by experts in your own Administration.

To address the new reports, I urge that you immediately provide a full accounting of your actions, as well as the actions of Vice President Cheney and other top White House advisors, relating to these claims. I also request that you declassify the President's Summary of the October 2002 NIE and all other documents bearing on these issues. Only in this way will Congress and the American people understand whether you mishandled classified information for political purposes both before and after taking the nation to war.
