North Carolina man berates president at meeting
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- President Bush isn't used to tongue-lashings, but he got a scolding Thursday from a North Carolina man who told him that he should be ashamed of himself.

"While I listen to you talk about freedom, I see you assert your right to tap my telephone, to arrest me and hold me without charges, to try to preclude me from breathing clean air and drinking clean water," real estate broker Harry Taylor told Bush at a town-hall meeting. "I have never felt more ashamed of nor more frightened by my leadership in Washington."

The audience at Central Piedmont Community College booed, but Bush seemed to take the criticism in stride.

"I'm not your favorite guy," the president said. "What's your question?"

1. Harry taylor was just on so-bad at cnn and said he has been overwhelmed
with all the positive response to this, Just when we needed another hero he comes forward. In hero I mean someone who has the kajones to tell the president that he is basically fucking up.

7. Did you hear so-so-bad's questions? She asked why the president should...
listen to some guy in a balcony asking a question. The guy had a pretty good response that you never know, maybe the president will realize that some Americans aren't so happy w/ the job he's doing. So-so-bad responded, "Well, that's a pretty huge maybe.":eyes: She seemed hostile to him the whole time, but maybe if the press did its job, Harry Taylor wouldn't have to do it for them.

8. exactly, I guess it must be part of their job, otherwise why is all the
newscasters or most anyway so hostile to the fact that we are loosing our freedoms, our country. Everything Harry said I agree with 100 percent. Yesterday he spoke for me whether he knows it or not.

Two polls:

The war is one reason Bush's job rating has sunk in North Carolina, a state he twice carried by wide margins. A new poll by a conservative Raleigh think tank found 46 percent approve of his performance, while 42 percent support his handling of the war in Iraq.

41% in the Survey USA poll.

9. Charlotte is very red...here in Raleigh, getting bluer -
Durham and Chapel Hill a locus of blue in a rather red state (though I was surprised to find that our favorite vacation spot, Ocracoke island - pop. 600, is blue!)
