Democrats should propose a Social Security tax on jobs shipped overseas

The tax would help to offset the expected SS shortfall and even out the playing field between American workers and cheap foreign labor. If American corporations want to abandon their loyal American employees and renege on their pension promises, they should pay a price. If they don't want to meet their obligations, they can leave their assets behind and get the hell out of our country. Why should our sons and daughters in the military protect these profiteers who would abandon their own for the almighty buck?

While we're at it let's propose a "Loyalty Tax" so foreign workers can help support our military. How about an "Appreciation" tax to support our veteran's benefits?

A company moves jobs offshore then to import their product back into the country they must pay a 3.75 percent tax on those imports.

Why is a corporate pension obligation any different than a personal debt? Why is a corporate deadbeat allowed to go scott free while a guy that can't pay medical expenses for his children is a welsher?

Are you also anti-American? Anyone who is willing to lash out at our Nation's core values like that bears careful scrutiny IMO....

we've got treaties that, in some cases, would impose fines on us if we did that sort of thing.

The treaties do not cover the state tax...it could be a state sales tax to cover relocation expense.

We're the ones dying to protect the other countries rights. Why should we pay to spread democracy when it's killing our own?

for THAT persons benefit. The Feds however could put a tax on the products that are IMPORTED by the very company who USED to make those items here but chose to send those jobs overseas to take advantage of cheap labor.

YES, that would be fought on the basis as being anti free trade, but I think there is a lot of good arguments in favor of it, and in a Dem Congress, could pass.

Why are we funding an entitlement strictly from workers payroll taxes when it isn't only workers that are eligible to collect from it? As more and more jobs are outsourced why shouldn't we find other sources for funding Social Security?

And if we outsource enough jobs, we'll never have to work again. And we'll spread democracy throughout the world. And the world will pay for our protection. And they'll be ever so grateful.

Minus all the killing and stealing of course.
