Bush leaked info about Saddam not Valerie Plame
I've been watching and reading about this and it seems that we are missing the point. Bush did not release Plame's name but info about Saddam buying yellow cake. Bush's father said that if anyone reveals the name of a CIA operative they are committing an act of treason. This is not what Libby said Bush did. TV news people keep saying that all presidents leak info to help their policy. So until we know if Bush actually outed Valerie Plame we are in limbo.
I'm not defending him. I just was confused as to why the whole world wasn't screaming about this and after reading about it it seems he did not out Plame. Did I get that right?

3. Go to FireDogLake comments. Has link to show that the NIE document
portions that were declassified, showed in numerous places the identity of Valerie Plame and her Brewster Jennings network.

9. he committed treason independent of plame, in order to further his
political goals of discrediting wilson.
By authorizing the declassifying of classified documents to punish a whistleblower, he has committed treason, in my understanding. Whether he said release plame's actual name is irrelevant.

6. But I think we're all missing something here
He leaked selective portions of an intelligence report. The stuff he leaked supposedly backed up his argument that Hussein was trying to buy yellow cake or whatever. The stuff he DIDN'T leak was the stuff that said that Joe Wilson was right, no such attempt was made by Hussein.

At the VERY least, this document proves that the chose to only believe and report anything that would back their case to invade. Any other relevent information was of no use to them.

This pretty much proves that the misled the country into believing that Hussein was a threat, when he knew otherwise.

13. Exactly
Where there is smoke there is fire, and it will come out that Bush leaked the identity of Plame. He is guilty of Treason and must be removed today.

10. Its a pretty big leap to believe there was not intent to damage Wilson
Yes, it is true that the two did not directly leak Plames name, what they did do is leak (release) information just days after Wilsons NY Times article with the clear intent of discrediting his op-ed. Hence why the portion about yellow cake was chosen.

I am sure the admin expects us to believe (or will tell us) the timing was coincidental and the release of that info was purely to help clarify *'s justification for going to war.

So while they may or may not have legal problem, they damn sure have one big ass hypocrisy problem that is not going to go away... considering all the non-admin folks they are going after for doing the same leaking kind of thing (NSA, Secret Prisons, etc)
