GOP Pollster: We've lost every advantage we've ever had.
Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 10:16 AM by newyawker99
It's an AOL article, so I'll post enough to get the point across:

President Bush's approval ratings hit a series of new lows in an AP-Ipsos poll that also shows Republicans surrendering their advantage on national security - grim election-year news for a party struggling to stay in power.

Democratic leaders predicted they will seize control of one or both chambers of Congress in November. Republicans said they feared the worst unless the political landscape quickly changes.

"These numbers are scary. We've lost every advantage we've ever had," GOP pollster Tony Fabrizio said. "The good news is Democrats don't have much of a plan. The bad news is they may not need one."
---snip----

- Just 36 percent of the public approves of Bush's job performance, his lowest-ever rating in AP-Ipsos polling. By contrast, the president's job approval rating was 47 percent among likely voters just before Election Day 2004 and a whopping 64 percent among registered voters in October 2002.

· Only 40 percent of the public approves of Bush's performance on foreign policy and the war on terror, another low-water mark for his presidency. That's down 9 points from a year ago. Just before the 2002 election, 64 percent of registered voters backed Bush on terror and foreign policy.

1. Dems using "Rope -a-Dope" strategery on Republican losers...
By November they will be flat on the canvas. Just watch out for those desperate roundhouse last gasp efforts by the right.

15. Yep, you got that EXACTLY RIGHT
No need to make bold statements, or go too far out there and risk alienation by the timid or the lockstep goofs. Just let the bastards hang themselves...then, once we are in, unveil the agenda.

2. God, let's hope it stays this way until November. The only
thing I worry about is that this might drive the lunatics in the Oval Office to do something desperate. And stupid. And harmful.

4. And they still have to work in some variation of "Dems have no ideas"
("The good news is Democrats don't have much of a plan. The bad news is they may not need one.")

17. Well, given the bright ideas the GOP have had, maybe we don't need
any ideas beyond RESPONSIBLE GOVERNANCE. Such a concept!!!

I love it when they trot out that tired old meme...it stinks of flopsweat and fear, frankly!!!

After all, an avalanche that buries them is a pretty quick change in the landscape, isn't it. And that is what is going to happen now.

7. They still have the biggest advantage there is -
100% media sycophancy. I don't know if they can overcome this particular disaster, but I do know that without the media Smirk would have been impeached more than a year ago, and we would have won back the House in 04.

Governor of Texas, much less president.

W is a media creation, like the Monkees.

30. Except the Monkees were actually pretty good.
They started with guys who had some talent (some musical, some otherwise).

This misadministration has no talent at any level, top to bottom.

8. Now here's the plan
Every time the
republicans say anything, The reply is " they're Republicans, They're lying again!" It doesn't matter if they are quoting baseball scores. The answer is "they're lying they're Republicans." The sooner we all start this meme the sooner they will lose. Do what republicans do REPEAT REPEAT until sheeple believe it... Now repeat after me "THEY'RE REPUBLICANS THEY'RE LYING!!!".
Good now tell everyone you know.

11. And all it took was for people to see them in action
The Republicans had their shot and the best opportunity of any party in living memory to implement its ideological program undiluted. It's been a nightmare for America. But will we be allowed to wake up from it?

13. The problem is that this is in spite of anything the democrats have done
which has been very little. It is only because of the crimes of this administration. We may win in 2006, but we will NOT sustain it unless the democrats in congress come up with concrete solutions

We cannot exist as a party on the mistakes of the repukes, we must show why we deserve to be elected:

1. Pro-choice
2. Getting out of Iraq
3. Fighting terror with other countries, NOT by invading them
4. Stop the off shoring of jobs by giving incentives to corporations to hire here, and bringing back technology
5. Putting forth a viable energy plan. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE SINCE 1973
6. Putting together a medicare drug plan that helps people
7. Insuring that EVERY American has healthcare
8. Not privitizing social security, and insuring that companies meet their pension obligations
9. Encourage stem cell research

and much much more

14. We are hamstrung by two factors
1. No power. No dem proposal can make it out of committee. With GOP controlling the WH, House, Senate, SCOTUS, and media, there literally is nothing that can happen without the Repubs' approval

2. No media. If Smirk commits a crime in the forest, and no one in the media reports it, did it really happen?

Edited on Fri Apr-07-06 09:24 AM by billybob537
You see everything that is wrong belongs to them, they either did it, or failed to fix it.
The Dems only need to remind everyone they lied they did "IT" or they failed to fix it, the dems had no power to change this.
