campaign? I saw a news report last night that said they may be joining forces in '08 and my jaw dropped! WTF? Now he's pandering to the RW wacko nut jobs? What else will this man do to get elected?

<snip>
Falwell said McCain’s appearance at LU’s graduation is another sign that McCain is wooing evangelical Christians.

“He is in the process of healing the breech with evangelical groups,” Falwell said.

Falwell said McCain has expressed a willingness to support a Federal Marriage Amendment, an issue dear to conservative Christians.<snip>

<snip>
Christian conservatives, including Falwell, are concerned about efforts by homosexual groups to have civil unions between same-sex partners recognized as marriages. McCain previously has said the matter of defining marriage should be handled by state legislatures, but now concedes that a federal statute may be necessary, Falwell said.<snip>

1. People are getting sick of this fundie fruitcake craziness
crap. (We always were, I'm referring to your average everyday Joe Six-pack Republican). It's going to hurt him and give the dem nominee ammo at election time.

2. He has HITCHED his wagon to the Monkey's FADING star!
Poor Johnny....his timing SUCKS. He would have had a better shot staying on the outside, and carping for 'straight talk.' Instead, he's showed us just what a craven opportunist he really is.

I'm overjoyed, frankly.

9. You have nailed it!
In his zigging and zagging, he missed a beat and has, in one go, managed to alienate a small, but hopefully mighty, chunk of his moderate repugnant party goose steppers. These were essential forces in his calculations and many have some strong disagreements with the direction the mob bosses have established.
That being said, however, another part of his calculations is the fact that repugnants have defective long term memories and there is a lot of time between summer 2006 and November 2008. He has lots of time to whore himself out to the gang in question and endear himself to them again, so the net, overall effect will be positive--he has turned the crank and this will gain him some votes.

McCain=puta

U.S. Sen. John McCain - a likely 2008 presidential candidate who once labeled the Rev. Jerry Falwell an “agent of intolerance” - will be Liberty University’s graduation speaker on May 13.

HE'S EVEN SPEAKING AT FALWELL'S UNIVERSITY!!!

Hmmm....flip flopper? Hypocrite?

5. I think McCain has lost his chance to get the Pub nomination.
Kissing up to the fundies NOW won't help him with them. They have a very long memory and I'm sure won't forget the things he said during his 2000 campaign. To make matters worse for him, he has lost the Independants and moderate Dems that he had back then, because of his antics with Shrub!

Too bad the Mcain we saw in 2000 wasn't the real one!

7. They eventually show their true colors.
Especially when they're desperate. It had to happen....sooner or later. When I saw him hugging the idiot-in-chief at that fundraiser (like a child hugs his mother :puke:), I KNEW he was not who he had portrayed himself to be, Mr. Moderate.

it's right there in the name-- rejoice in saving their "lost sheep!"
Remember the eighties, 1987, I think, Falwell was caught with his hand in the till and his mixmaster in someone not his wife. After the customary denials and the usual attempt at indicting his accusers, he did a tearful mea culpa and was right back in command, stealing money and screwing everybody.
He forgave himself and immediately assumed his rightful pose, looking down his nose and sitting at the right hand of God, condemning all who would disagree with him. His 700 club will assure John the puta of, at a guess, a million votes.

8. Maybe not, but his cohorts will be and we can't forget about
the loony Pat Robertson. IF Falwell chooses to back McCain, chances are good that Robertson will too.
