Ok, some I'm at the protest outside of Justice Sunday III where inside a North Philly Church is a rally hosted by Jerry Falwell, Rick Santorum, James Dobson and a host of other right-wing idiots. The church is predominantly black but the congregration leaving this farce was pretty much split down the middle.

From where we were protesting (which was directly across the street - we were allowed up to the middle yellow line of Broad Street) we can see the video stream from the program with the closed caption and you can see these idiots bad-mouthing Ted Kennedy (that was about all I could stomach).

Now mind you, this pre-dominently african-american church has received like 1.35million in Faith-Based inititive money. ANd they did bring in a niece of Martin Luther King Jr. to somehow legitimize what was going on in there (like one of his kids would be caught dead on the same stage as Falwell).

So tell me cause I'm just at lost for words or understanding or maybe it's my blonde hair showing - why the hell does this church still have "Tax-Free" status even with his massive political rally for the right going on inside.

BTW, great protest about 150-200 people show up and ACTUP was there and damn if those folks know how to make an enterance. They showed up about 15 minutes before the start carrying torches made of flares with had all this smoke & red flames coming from it. Mighty impressive!

1. why? faith-based politics
see, it's okay, 'cause true patriotic chruches know the difference (however slight) between George W. Bush and the Baby Jesus, and they would NEVER use that initiative money for personal enrichment. :eyes: :puke:

But if a church speaks out against the war, calls for peace and an end to violence, well, they're just a bunch of anti-american commies and should lose their tax-exempt status forthwith.

Make sense?

3. Well, the law doesn't enforce itself. And the IRS is working
under a Republican misAdministration.

If we want the IRS to investigate, we have to demand it -- because this Justice Department will not.

6. File a complaint with the IRS. They have a program where you
get part of the fines, so maybe you could get some money for more protest funding out of it.
