Prediction: Cheney Quits,,,then it'll be Lieberman For VP
Three Rationales:

Any Republican with Presidential Aspirations will not work..because those other senatorial aspirants will be royally pissed and Bush still has to govern.

Lieberman is a Democrat which would mean smooth sailing through the House confirmation and it would still go over well with Bush's base and Lieberman is likely washed up from Presidential Politics maybe even Connecticut politics as well.

Bush want to reshape the perception that he is a right wing ideologue. Appointing a democrat would be a master stroke in that respect.

1. That's been my nightmare for quite a while.
The Press would applaud such a bipartisan appointment. And Connecticut would lose a Democratic Senator. (Yes, he does vote with the Democrats much of the time.)

As Bush's scandals grow, he might be forced to resign. Or a hidden health problem could be revealed--offering him an out.

President Leiberman would supply pardons for all.

2. Nah Bush wouldn't do it
He'd be viewed as selling out by the Morans! I'm series!

Not only that, for Bush it would be admitting defeat, having to rely on a democrat to get things passed. It only shows his weakness.

Never happen

3. Please, loosen your tinfoil hat - oxygen not getting to the brain
Bush making Lieberman a VP?

Yeah, he's going to put a man who has supported all the judicial filibusters, a major advocate for preserving ANWR & keeping drillers out and is 100% Pro-choice as rated by Naral as his VP

Please, stuff like this makes DU look silly. My mother has a better chance of being appointed VP because at least she voted 100% republican in the last couple of elections.

:eyes:

Next time you post stuff like this try using the :sarcasm: so we all know you're kidding

4. I think it would be Tom Ridge
Bush won't want anyone like Cheney bossing him around, being president . . . he'll want a more traditional, dullard vice prez.

6. Noelle Bush has more Joementum, I think. It's a plus that she's on drugs.
The drugs will help keep reality from intruding.

Mike Brown is looking for work where he can display his fashion sense, so he's a candidate, since he does a heckofajob.

Harriet Meirs is probably free, and she supports "the President" totally.

Ken Lay is kind of busy now, but if he could free up some time maybe...

7. Never ever ever ever...
Not in a hundred-billion years. Whomever gets the VP slot will likely also get the 2008 Repig nomination. The present admin will need someone to continue the cover-up (going all the way back to the Reagan years) and there's no way in hell they'll pick someone they cannot implicitly trust to do so.

My guess is that, if they pick anyone, it'll be a long-time BFEE toady, like Condi...

11. It won't happen
First, Lieberman may not be our favorite but on domestic issues he has a pretty strong record. For instance, he is 100% pro-choice. He would turn off the fundies in the party. Second, The GOP in congress would revolt if Bush nominated a Democrat instead of a card carrying Republican.

13. Pro Choice, Pro Labor, Pro Gay, Pro Environment so No Way
The neocons like his war stance but on most other issues he's a LIBERAL. He does not pass muster with the GOP base.

Most likely if this did happen the replacement would be someone respected in the GOP that Dems could accept and someone who would not run in 2008.
