Lawyer pleads Fifth in dramatic hearing at Guantánamo Bay
"I don't think your kids are going to be proud that there was a Ralph Kohlmann who sat in this commission. Just as I don't think Hitler's kids were proud that their father started this shit." Lawyer pleads Fifth in dramatic hearing at Guantánamo Bay 07 Apr 2006 An Ethiopian 'terrorism' suspect who claims the United States outsourced his interrogation to torture in Morocco made a dramatic debut Thursday at his war-crimes trial. Within hours, the U.S. Air Force officer assigned to defend Binyan Ahmed Mohammad invoked her Fifth Amendment rights — three times — after declaring the Pentagon had created for her an ethical dilemma. Air Force Maj. Yvonne Bradley became the first person to plead the Fifth in the short history of Dictator Bush's disputed military commissions, now under review at the U.S. Supreme Court. Mohammad dominated the session (*yes*), declaring the rules unfair — and pointedly accusing the presiding officer, Marine Col. Ralph Kohlmann, of perpetrating an American legal justice fraud on the world.

"After four years of torture and rendition, you have the wrong person in the stand." Detainee says US handed him over to Moroccans who tortured him 07 Apr 2006 Binyam Muhammad (sic - Mohammad - the U.S. government misspells his name), who has been accused of plotting 'Al Qaeda' attacks in the United States, was tortured with a scalpel after American authorities handed him over to Moroccan interrogators, according to an account provided by his lawyer. The 27-year-old detainee told the judge that he has been tortured. He criticized US authorities for getting his name wrong and said he was not the person they sought. "After four years of torture and rendition, you have the wrong person in the stand," Mohammad said.

4. From what we are finding out lately * looks suspect here also
After tuning * out as far as observing him for the last few years and then to contrast just watching this effer lately my guess it that * has his fingerprints all over most of this outright criminal behavior. It's written on his face and body language, his projection and his pompousness The reasoning of his underling enacting this stuff is just a whole lot of B.S.

6. As long as the same detainee treatment applies to Bush...

Otherwise, I want key members of the Bush regime to be tried for treason, with all possible penalties for treason on the plate.

Cheers,
Lori Price

2. What fresh winds are we sowing?
Can anyone, with any confidence, truly say they know what’s being done in our name at Guantanamo or anywhere else in the world where our military and intelligence folks are deployed?

5. BTW, the scalpel torture was allegedly done on his penis...
Most of the US media omits that grisly aspect.

Remember when Ralph Nader said there was no difference between George W. Bush and Al Gore, during the summer of 2000? While Al Gore is pleading - on a moral level - for an end to global warming (http://www.insidebayarea.com/argus/localnews/ci_3683394), Bush is allowing suspects to be tortured with scalpels.

Gee, I wonder if (GOP-funded) Barf Nadir now sees a difference?

10. K&R PBS's Frontline program on torture said it is so horrible most
people turn away but we must not become good Germans while bush finds his "Hitler's Willing Executioners" or it will sooner or later come back on us and our families.

I can't comment on an ongoing Amerikan legal proceedings and will have to take the 5th.

14. Anyone see the movie Brazil?
think 1984 with an absurdist terry gilliam twist. Same thing happens. A guy gets taken from his home in the middle of the night, tortured, and killed because they got his name wrong. I suppose we have hit that level of absurdity.
