Voyage of the Damned: Cruising with Newt Gingrich, Ed Meese, Ollie North, and Wayne LaPierre

Captain Charon to the Lido Deck!

Some people's idea of hell would be to be trapped in a confined space with a guest list that included Oliver North, Newt Gingrich, Ed Meese, the NRA's Wayne LaPierre, the American Conservative Union's David Keene, former Congressman Bob Barr, and one or two representatives from the Washington Times and Fox News.

For others, Holland America Lines is now taking reservations for its "Freedom Cruise 2006." This voyage of the damned sets sail from Italy on August 19th for 11 days of "Old Europe"-hopping in the Mediterranean. For your $2,600 to $6,700 per person price (double occupancy) voyagers are promised, "Plenty of chances to meet, schmooze and enjoy personal interaction with our special guest speakers." A small price to pay to find yourself "dancing on a moonlit deck" with Ed Meese or "shuffleboard and skeet shooting" with the NRA's LaPierre (no snide comments about the shooting mishaps of Dick Cheney, Bob Barr, and David Keene's son please).

It's enough to make any true right winger feel like they're king of the world.

1. A ship of Fools
An expensive ship of fools.
The republican party seems like a giant pyramid
marketing scheme set up to fleece dumbshits.

Maybe they'll have a seminar on that.
