Army Hospital Picketers: 'Thank God for Maimed Soldiers'

The man responsible for the "GodHatesFags.com" and "GodHatesAmerica.com" websites picketed the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., Thursday with a dozen of his family members and followers.

They carried signs stating "Thank God for Maimed Soldiers," "Thank God for Dead Soldiers" and "God Hates You." "God almighty is punishing this evil nation by killing their kids over in Iraq and by maiming, crippling and mangling their kids over in Iraq,".

Phelps believes military personnel share the blame for court decisions and legislation favoring homosexuality, even if those service members do not support that lifestyle.

Protesting too much defines his being. And his intense support network is always in the dozens. fred should just get back on his knees and loosen up.

I thought they hit the lowest point possible when they protested at military funerals but this is too much.

And when they do get the beatdown, I bet the cops look the other way.

They were at my concert last weekend as they usually are but this time they had speakers and microphones and their singing was very loud and upsetting to some of our audience coming to the concert. I heard them singing about perverts and fags and Brokeback Mountain to the tune of "Country Roads" and various other creative lyrics. One guy was out there with a loud speaker making noises at them, one guy was yelling at one of the teens with them. It was quite disruptive.

Something tells me that a parent of one of the wounded just may decide to take ole Freddie on.

By the way, Fred is trying really hard to suppress his homosexuality. There is nothing wrong with being gay. Fred just can't accept his sexuality so he is lashing out at his "demons".

Sooner or later, somebody always suggests that the violent homophobes are really suppressing their own homosexuality. Seems to me that this is just putting the blame back on gay people. It's entirely possible that violent homophobes are exactly what they appear to be - violent straight people.

I speak from experience. It took me 45 years to realize that I was a lesbian. However, all those years I thought I was straight, I did not dislike gay people! In fact, most of my closest friends were lesbians. I find the same thing with other people who took a while to come out of the closet. They usually got along just fine with other gay people.

I think you and I are in agreement about Phelps and I know you didn't mean any offense in your post. I used to say the same thing until one day I realized, "Heeeeyyyyyy, waitaminute. All these people bashing queers are straight! Let's start pointing that out."
