U.S. Senate confirms new Pentagon chief spokesman
WASHINGTON, April 7 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Senate on Friday confirmed a former TV news producer as Pentagon's new chief spokesman after months of delay due to the objection from a Senator.

By a 59-34 vote, Senators approved the nomination of Dorrance Smith, a former ABC news producer, to be the chief spokesman of the Pentagon, or known more formerly as the Assistant Secretary ofDefense for Public Affairs.

The nomination had been held up for months by Democratic Senator Carl Levin, on the reasons that Smith had written an article in a newspaper which accused U.S. television networks of helping terrorists via their partnerships with Arab broadcaster Al-Jazeera.

The post of Pentagon chief spokesman has been left vacant sinceVictoria Clarke quit in June 2003.

2. I was watching, but now I can't remember who, exactly.
I do believe one was Lieberman, I'm sure Feingold and Kohl, and maybe Ben Nelson. Don't hold me to it, but I do know I was pissed at Feingold. Maybe this Dorrance fellow was from their State.

I'm about ready to give up on all of them. It's just tooooooo sad.
