Letter from a congress critter re: delay for DeLay
Dear Ms. ,

Thank you for contacting my office about your concerns with House Majority Leader Tom DeLay. I appreciate hearing your concerns and learning how you feel about this important issue.

As you are aware, Mr. DeLay has come under scrutiny in the last few months due to his questionable ethics, possible indictments in his home state of Texas, and intervention in the private life of Terri Schiavo. I understand your anger at his actions. I am upset that a Member of the House of Representatives would try to hide from the rules and then try to change those rules to escape punishment. In the past few months, both Democrats and Republicans have called for Mr. DeLay to step down as Majority Leader. This important matter has my full attention, and I will certainly keep your opinions in mind as the discussion about Mr. DeLay continues and as more information about his questionable dealings and ethics come to light.

Thank you again for contacting me. Please remember, I want to know what issues are important to you. In the future, please do not hesitate to contact me with other concerns.

Sincerely

Emanuel Cleaver, II

Member of Congress

1. That's a good letter.
No question where he stands, if he uses phrases such as "questionable dealings and ethics."

Thanks for sharing.

3. Was this in response to the delay for Delay?
He didn't address that directly, but it's good to be reminded that he's on the right side.

4. E-mailed my Congress critter
Kolbe, asked him, since the Repubs had delayed reconvening congress in hopes the Bugman would beat the rap and retake his position, if he and the others were willing to turn the checks they would be receiving while NOT doing their job back to the treasury. I only received the auto response and nothing more. I guess if he can be gay and a Repub he doesn't care what I think either.

5. Cleaver is also my Representative. His office is just two blocks
from where I live. He was a great mayor.

6. That is a thoughtful response. Good going.
Remember, today we're supposed to call in to support Mr. Conyer's bills for a select committee and for impeachment.

I've called Nancy's office so often, today I had Doug call first.

Because, I'm sure they get stalking calls from the same 10 people every day, and they've gotten calls from me so often, I don't want to earn that classification.

What to do, when this midAdministration sets so many fires?

But, the staffers that took Doug's call and mine seemed to be keeping count.

We can't lose simply by weighing in reasonably.

I hope. :silly:

13. And DeLay's motion for a speedy trial was denied
The Texas Supreme Court told Hot Tub Tom to go piss up a rope, and that Texas jurisprudence will run its allotted course, without fear or favor of Tommy Boy. That's nine Texas Supreme Court justices. Nine elected justices. Nine Republican justices. Tough titty, Tom.
