Any Stern fans here at DU? (re: Ketih Olbermann)
If so, just wondering if you had Sirius and heard his press conference this morning (Stern started his Sirius show today). Keith Olbermann was there and asked Howard a question. I have read others here at DU praise Keith, though I have never taken the time to watch his show, but...Stern praised Keith for ripping Limbaugh a new one on his "Countdown" show and Keith seemed very cool and down to earth.

I guess I will have to start watching this guy!....

2. Pretty funny
George Takei (Sulu of star trek) is the Stern Show announcer, and has been joking and very open about his recently revealed sexuality. He's actually pretty funny. But he thinks Keith Olbermann is hot.

8. Revelations - NOTE POTENTIALLY OFFENSIVE MATERIAL!!!!
Stern came on and said he was married. Everyone exploded in the studio. After about 20 minutes of that, he said he lied, he just wanted to see what everyone would do.

The revelations were made, but the game is to mull it over for a week and figure out who revealed what.

NOTE MATURE CONTENT HERE FOLKS!

- someone had plastic surgery
- someone cheated on their wife and she found out about it
- someone knocked up a girl and paid for it in the past year.
- someone was with another guy at a hotel and they hired call girls and they got ripped off and were left standing there in their underwear.
-someone pleasured themselves using meats and vegetables
- someone masturbated in the bathroom closet while two relatives used the bathroom.
- someone (male) had a guy ejaculate on his chest
- someone was in hospital having stomach pumped for alcohol poisoning, and woke up and member of same sex that was an acquaintance was fondling their genitals.

There were three more, but I am blanking.

12. AWESOME THANK YOU!!!
If you remember the others please post! :yourock:

So, was it good? I'll probably be getting a Sirius anyway eventually, but what was your overall impression?

My guesses so far:

The stomach pumped for alcohol has to be Artie.

I'll bet Howard had the plastic surgery.

Fred cheated and his wife found out.

Robin pleasured herself w/ meats and vegetables (sausages, cucumbers).

24. Good God THOSE are quite the revelations!
-someone pleasured themselves using meats and vegetables
- someone masturbated in the bathroom closet while two relatives used the bathroom.
- someone (male) had a guy ejaculate on his chest

The above all sound like stuff that creepy Richard Christie would be involved with

- someone was in hospital having stomach pumped for alcohol poisoning, and woke up and member of same sex that was an acquaintance was fondling their genitals.
THIS has GOT to be Artie

The meats and vegetables HAS to be Robin (sausages and cucumbers etc.).

45. I don't know I think Robin is the one who had the surgery
one of the pleasuring themselves items (IMO) has to be Howard related--I am betting the relative's in the bathroom/ while he pleasured self in closet is Howard.

I could be wrong, but I just don't see Robin revealing the thing about the meats and vegetables! lol

Edited on Mon Jan-09-06 10:51 AM by soothsayer
some of 'em are (there are 11):

someone cheated on their wife and got caught
someone got a girl pregnant last year and paid for the abortion
someone hid in a bathroom closet and pleasured themselves while relatives were using the bathroom
someone thinks they're addicted to porn, masturbating twice a day
someone spent more than $10,000 on internet porn
someone has pleasured themselves with meat and fruit
someone has had cosmetic surgery
someone was in the hospital with alcohol poisoning and awoke to a same sex acquaintance touching their genitals
someone has had a man shoot a load onto their chest

I can't recall the other two.

edited to include: someone and a friend hired masseuses and got ripped off by them, left in their room in just their underwear
ah! I remember the last one! someone has a half sister they have no interest in meeting

The show was put on with an absolutely giddy energy, I'll say that. And it was compelling to listen. My ONLY complaint was that awful bit of Evil David Letterman having phone sex. It was terrible, unfunny, too long, and completely uncreative.

been cutting him off well shy of 10 a.m. for many months. And no commercials today! Wowza.

Used to watch Aaron Brown before CNN cancelled him. Since then, no more CNN for me. I also used to watch the Ron Reagan show before MSNBC cancelled it last month.

But Keith is the best - he's a permanent repeating event on my Tivo!

He does his show. He also does about an hour on ESPN radio every week as a guest. He was the announcer for the Yankee's Old Timers game last year. I bet this will be part of Countdown. KO is one of the best anchor/reporters out there now and it's good to see him out there doing his own news.

Edited on Mon Jan-09-06 11:47 AM by obreaslan
Unfortunately, Sirius and AAR couldn't play well together and that really pissed me off. I download the pod-casts of the AAR shows now from airamericaplace.com. I paid $150 for the Sirius set-up and I'm sure as hell not going to drop more money to switch to XM now. Between Stern in the morning and the MP3 AAR shows the rest of the day, I'm fine with it I guess. It's the best of both worlds.

Edit: I can't spell. :)

Stern is too prepubescent for my taste. Olberman also provides more substantive evidence to support his flames, Stern just flames.

60. Stern does get over the top BUT
When Stern first started his website I emailed articles with links about bush's crimes daily and I know of two occasions where they added my emails to the site with the links--as the site evolved into something very large and slick they continued to publish bush news on a daily basis.

When he isn't doing the weird stuff his show is very hard hitting about this admin-JMO

He's crude. I avoid the people in my life that act like that, so un-attractive.

KO rocks... and no bathroom humor.

I adore George Carlin, but even some of his stuff is too gross for me.

80. Stern Is Not For Everyone
He's humor can be very sophomoric, so if you don't enjoy that type of humor the Stern won't appeal to you. However, there's more to him that JUST his sophomoric humor. He's probably the best interviewer around, hands down. He gets his subjects to admit things that no one else can. He asks the questions that everyone is really interested in that no one else will ask.

Stern is also very honest about himself. There's very, very little that is off limits to talk about on the show about his personal life. He's one of the very few (or maybe the ONLY) celebrity that really opens up his life like that and it's fascinating.

101. I also enjoy Olberman immensely
I used to hate Stern--until about a year and a half ago when a very old freind of mine insisted that I should check out his show because he was hammering on herr bush daily. I checked it out and have since become a fan.

I can not even pinpoint what it is that I enjoy about the program--it's not the strippers and the more salacious stuff but I guess in my mind it's kind of like a raunchy Seinfeld--it's a show about nothing with a daily cast of bizarre characters.

Yes, some of the material is not my bag but there are some genuinely funny listening moments especially when you are held hostage in a car doing long commutes as I was last year!

107. I'm a huge Stern fan
and I definitely agree with you. I dont even necessarily like the raunchy stuff. I really enjoy when he goes off on political rants and on obnoxious celebs, and even when the whole crew sits around and talks about their own lives. In fact, he could leave the so-called "potty humor" out and I would be just as happy!

I went and saw them in Vegas in 2004 and had a great time, even though it was a real bitch to get into the taping. I have pictures of me and Beetlejuice and a hilarious photo of Gary the Retard and my wife (she's a bigger fan than me!)...in the pic he is so obviously staring at my her cleavage ..its classic!

I'll post them here if a Stern forum gets started like someone proposed!

112. Amen. I hate Stern and I am really disappointed that
the "right" gets to use him against us. He's really horrible and not even remotely funny. Since I support free speech (even stupid, hateful free speech),I wish people would stop listening to him so he would go away.

Here's what he had to say the day after the Columbine school shootings.

"A bunch of good-looking girls go to that school. There were, like, really good-looking girls running out of there with their hands over their heads. Did those kids try to have sex with any of the good-looking girls? They didn't even do that. At least if you're going to kill yourself and kill all the kids, why wouldn't you have some sex?"

What a great, funny guy! :sarcasm:

When my conservative friends throw him in my face, I remind them that he is a Libertarian and certainly nothing like a Liberal, but he is still associated with us Liberals/Progressives which is a shame.

I like KO. He's a classy guy who is actually intelligent and funny.

To each his or her own, but I'll stay away from Stern.

the uncensored Pat O Brien tapes were great and making George Takei the offical show announcer was a great decision

I did however think that the news conference went a little long and Howard should have shot back at the bitchy FOX news chick that it isn't that hard to believe that people will pay to listen to him and her questioning was being quite hypocritical because there are people out there that pay that same $12.95 a month to listen to FOX News channel and the new(ick) Fox News Talk channel

119. It's hard to describe
my feelings for Stern. He revolts me. He reminds me of every creep I ever met, the losers who tell you right off how good they are in bed. He reminds me of a stringy-haired pimply teenager with dirty teeth and fingernails and dirty underwear leering at all the pretty girls. Yeecchhh! Lecherous, repulsive. He's like a walking advertisement of how NOT to get laid. There are the exceptions, of course - the women he attracts to his shows - the kind you don't take home to meet mom.

I vote for a special Stern forum.

at? Bubba the love sponge, he calls himself a redneck and I heard him say "get-er-done" and he mentions Tony Stewart every 5 minutes. He sounds like a typical freeper, but he called bush a "fool" and he was excited about seeing Keith because (to paraphrase) "he destroys those right wing idiots on his show every night".

As a Canadian I had to jump through hoops to get Stern, those Idiots at sirius canada don't let Canadian customers listen to howard 100&101. I had to subscribe to the American service and use a fake address.
