Why is homosexuality the only thing RW "Christians" care about?

They sure as hell don't have a problem with "thou shalt not kill" (except when unborn fetuses are involved). The Bible says eating seafood is a sin, but that doesn't stop them from having big expensive lobster dinners at GOP fundraisers. They steal elections, covet the whole world and its freedoms and oil, worship Bush and money before God, and use God's name to further their unChristian causes. Yet at the slightest hint of man-on-man action (except Bush open-mouth kissing Lieberman or going on a man-date with a Saudi prince) they shit bricks. What causes them to get the impression that homosexuality is the only thing that repulses God? Is it just to hide their narrow bigotry?

Most people -- and I'm talking about my whole extended family here, so I see it up close all the time -- just believe whatever the designated authority figure tells them to. For these wingnuts, that's the serpent in the front of the church. They'll get upset about whatever he -- it's pretty much always a he -- gets upset about.

I don't see these folks having minds, wills, or opinions of their own at all. They are just proxy hate-machines for every little Falwell/Robertson/Hitler wannabe in the country.

That's what makes the snakes in the pulpits so dangerous: they each wield the power of several hundred or several thousand 'Americans'.

Right now, the big threats the church feels are abortion, woman, and those gays. they've always had those under wraps, the whole cultureal revolution of the 60s set them back a bit.

I know, we're just a tiny division of the Secular Humanist Agenda so we don't get a lot of recognition but you might know us from one of our more popular products -- The War On Christmas. We're trying to rebrand it for the Easter holidays this year but we haven't been getting the market traction we'd hoped for.

Alot of Christians are just not getting into the actual meaning of the holy idea. Most of them throw out words, and yet, keep the actual rest alone, just to strengthen the idealism of that idea. Lets use your example of Homosexuality. Alot of Right Wingers say how Liberals, just like you and me, are homosexual lovers. But, oh how hypocricy's gun turns when alot of them just love girl on girl action. Homosexual means "Same Sex". I dont see how lesbians are an exception.

Almost everybody has the notion that, if you would just run your life the way I tell you, it would work, instead of Being so f**ked up.
Even when we figure it out that we are really jacking up our own lives by trying to run every one else's and start minding our own business, we still can't resist giving the benefit of our precious advice.

There are some people who have this disease in spades and aren't introspective enough to get it and input some correction.

It's easy to abstain from "sins" that do not interest one.

If the fundamentalist churches ever decided to come out against, say, divorce, they would alienate too many of their members. Same if they had too much to say about greed. Homosexuality is the 'safe sin' for them.

Jesus had little to say about homosexuality. He did say this about divorce:

Whoever divorces his wife and marries another, commits adultery against her

and Moses was directed from God 'Thou Shall not commit adultery'

I don't here pastor yelling at half there congregation which is divorced. Shopping kart beliefs. The just grab the beliefs that are easy. The found one this don't have to worry about. The aren't gay. Let's enforce this one.

That's because homosexuality was already forbidden by Jewish law.

simply cannot come to terms with their OWN homosexuality.

It makes you wonder why Christ hung around 12 guys. Maybe he was gay. Maybe that is one of the reasons he was crucified.

Nearly everything they march in the streets about is sex related. Gays in general, gay-marriage, gay adoption, abortion, "abstinence only" sex education, sex in the movies/tv, sexual content in books assigned to kids in schools, and so on. They want all mention of sex wiped out of society for everyone, and for the sex act to be relegated to a purely procreative function--a mere biological behavior.

Either that, or they're using exaggerated outrage over what they see as sexual misconduct to cover up their own sexual proclivities, such as sex with unwilling victims or illegal partners (kids, relatives, etc.).

Do you ever notice that it is the ones who shout loudest about "sexual sin" and "moral purity" that end up getting arrested for sex crimes?

Not joking. I do believe the far right hate who they are and need to control other's sexuality in order to prevent others from being what they themselves are too scared to be themsleves. Like a jealous onlooker at a dance, they themselves are to coward-like to be a part of, so they chose to crash the party.
