6. I have a problem with this.
I think we are being setup for a bait and switch operation. Everyone stands up and yells 'Don't nuke Iran!' and they turn around and say 'OK, we will just bomb the crap out of them with conventional weapons'.

Don't start anymore wars, DONT ATTACK IRAN.

28. AO-add comments NO war on Iran!
"New Yorker quotes a number of high-ranking administration and military officials on the possibility of pre-emptive war with Iran. Not only do the officials say war is really on the table, they report that the Bush administration is making plans to use nuclear weapons..."
Having a problem with the specifics, does NOT mean not taking action is a good idea.
this is deadly serious!!!

Petition by physicists on nuclear weapons policy, September 2005

As physicists we feel a special responsibility with respect to nuclear weapons; our profession brought them into existence 60 years ago. We wish to express our opposition to a shocking new US policy currently under consideration regarding the use of nuclear weapons. We ask our professional organizations to take a stand on this issue, the Congress of the United States to conduct full public hearings on this subject, and the media and public at large to discuss this new policy and make their voices heard.

11. Done, but can we agree that attacking Iran PERIOD is ludicrous?
I'm afraid the wording of this petition may lead our brilliant reps to think it's okay if we bomb Iran with conventional weapons.

21. Uh-huh
Basically s/he/it said we'd never use nuclear weapons because we'd want to send troops in afterward to overthrow the government because they're insane, and that this petition was liberal BS. The same sort of person who still denies we've used depleted uranium, cluster bombs and white phosphorous in Iraq, and believes Bush** is less of a RW nutcase than Ahjmanided (sp).

12. RI had a discussion of who actually pushes the button and it is not bush
The military is obviously looking for support to stop bush and if WE SHOUT LOUD ENOUGH they may act. Firedoglake poster asked "Who was the fourth General?" Generals have been coming out publicly for a year saying bush is breaking the best fighting force in the world and when Gen. Casey said we would be out of Iraq within the year about two months ago bushco made him retract it. I think there are those in power who have the will to stop bush but need our indirect support by screaming on every messageboard you can and writing to Congress and signing petitions to let these brave souls know we also think bush has turned into Norma Desmond and must be removed according to the 25 ammendment: When a president becomes physically OR MENTALLY incapacitated and unable to fulfill his duties he must be removed.

My note to Congress added to Move-On Petition:
These are certainly the times that try men's (people's)souls.

I also signed the physicists' petition. Excellent reasons NOT TO NUKE IRAN! Please stop Bushco now!

Here is the comment I added to it.

So once again this administration wants to pick a fight with another country. The problem this time is they want to do it with nuclear weapons against a country that might have the means to retaliate. How is that protecting us from the terrorist? And what would we be unleasing on the rest of the world?

We no longer have any credibility with the rest of the world thanks to the continuing mess in Iraq. If we did carry out such a strike we would be alone in our stupidity. I doubt very seriously there would be any "coalition of the willing" to help us in this lunacy.

I'm tired of the lies, the mess, and the insanity of this administration and any member of Congress that goes along with this will soon find themselves out of a job...that is if any of us survive the aftermath.
